Yes, Corganist. I can take criticism on any issue such as my religion, values, intellect and personal life, but criticize a politician that I kind of like and you are done for. I don't let go of grudges like that.

So it doesn't bother you at all...but yet you bring it up for no reason in a Mike Huckabee thread?

I don't know if you're trying to take the piss out of me or what, but it doesn't make sense if you are. I am still 1000% right that the Tom Cruise thing reflects on Ron Paul poorly, and no amount of sarcasm or joking or mocking me is gonna make that go away. That doesn't mean, however, that it's the sort of campaign wrecking gaffe this Huckabee stuff may turn out to be, and I've never said or even so much as implied otherwise. It's not cool to take jabs at me as though I did. I'm fine with humor at my expense from time to time, but only when it's fair.

dude, you say I got something in my craw? I'm laughing at it - you clearly aren't. If I didn't think you'd still be so sensitive about it, then I would have not made the joke. No one was making fun of you or taking a shot at you - don't be so vain.

Strange, no one thought it was funny when I brought it up in the other thread (even though that was basically the intent). People went into full damage control, attack the messenger mode. Now all the sudden we're not taking it seriously anymore? You gotta keep me posted on this stuff.

Whatever. I guess I still have a chip on my shoulder about the way that whole topic went down. I still feel like I was made the butt of the joke unfairly, but I guess bitching about it is just making things worse for me.

Sorry to derail the thread with my lack of humor guys.

I agree with the "AIDS should be quarantined" statement, sort of. I mean, he does sort of have a point.

"It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS. It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."

that's an impractical overreaction to this disease. It's NOT like the other plagues. Other plagues were spread a lot more easily. AIDS is pretty much only spread through sexual contact. They are not a danger to everyday citizens to talk to, work with, etc. They are only a danger to those they fuck.

I would go into why it would be impractical but I'm sure if you think about the process of checking everyone in society and hunting them down like animals and placing them in special quarantined place that is big enough to hold them all... I'm sure you get the idea.

Hmm, I guess to get an idea of how many in society viewed the AIDS epidemic back in '92 you could watch Philadelphia; remember how cautious Denzel's character was when he first met Tom Hanks' character? It seemed like it wasn't until the mid-90's that our society's view on the virus was changed, people were starting to realize that the stereotype of all those inflicted with the virus were either permiscous homosexuals or druggies was far from the truth. Indeed it was that preconceived notion that resulted in the Reagan administration's lack of action in confronting the epidemic when it first brokeout in the early 80's. It seemed like this belief was held especially amongst the Christian conservative crowd, like Huckabee.

People are isolated when its easily transmitted. Its an STD, which can be managed loads better now than before. You are really fucking stupid.

He also believes it's still up in the air whether casual contact can infect people.

Wasn't it established by the CDC in 1985 that AIDS was not transmitted by casual contact? So if you're still not sure in 1992...

Then it looks like another Republican administration-- regardless of Huck(could be any Republican).
Obama the black flip=-flop has no chance of winning a national election regardless of any current support. The "american silent majority" and grassroot voters are not ready to vote for an Afro-American president, especally this one. He just needs to go anyway so the real candidates can carry on.

Because we all know people quickly cast their paranoia and superstitions aside without question the second they are confronted with information from a government agency, right?

Seven years later, I expect the smarter people in the country would accept the fact that AIDS was not transferred by casual contact. I guess Huckabee wasn't one of them.

This is so yesterday. Haven't you heard? The latest meme is that Huckabee hates women and thinks they all belong in the kitchen.
