question about mp3->wav->mp3
I've got some MP3's where there is no wav source available... it's from a radio station, each of them are about 20 mins long with interviews, song performances, etc in them.
Anyways, I was curious as to what would be the best way to go about splitting them with the least amount of quality loss as possible? |

Have you tried getting a non-mp3 source from the station?

It's from Drive 105. On their site they used to have links to all kinds of interviews/acoustic performances that were on the air in realaudio format. Just recently they switched to mp3... there's some good stuff up (Howie Day, Tori Amos, Soundtrack of Our Lives, Rhett Miller, Ben Kweller, Pete Yorn, etc). I haven't tried contacting the station as I don't have broadband :-/

there are programms that can split mp3's without reencoding. mp3cutter, for example.

I once wasted a ton of time finding an mp3 cutter which would cut mp3s without re-encoding them. It worked but was a pain in the ass. I quickly deleted the program when I was done.
