Default Ten Years Ago...

I attended my first Smashing Pumpkins concert and got to hear Mouths of Babes live. I rule.

I also heard a band named Matchbox 20 for the first time and man, they sucked donkey balls.

They've only played Mouths of Babes live twice. You're telling me that's not leet?

Also, I'm 26. How old are you, 35?

Mouth of Babes is insane. MTV or whoever needs to release the Double Door tapes.

The story behind Mouths of Babes
-------------------------------------------

Billy : Hi Doctor
Dentist : Hi Billy.
Billy : Aw man, I got no sleep last night.
Dentist : Hows the band?
Billy : They’re ok. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one working. James & darcy are in La La Land, while Jimmy is high up somewhere.
Dentist : Well, that life for you billy.
Billy : I know. But why do I have to do 97% of the work?
Dentist : ........Let's take a look at your mouth.
Billy : Ok.
Dentist : Wow, you have 3 cavities
Billy : You’re kidding?!
Dentist : Nope afraid not.
Billy :
Dentist : Y'know, This reminds of my of my veterinarian friends who had to check on a pigs teeth. He found so many cavaties in the mouth of the babe, its crazy.
Billy : Mouth of the babe?
Dentist : Like the mouths of babes or pigs??
Billy : Ah, good one.
Dentist : Yeah, he thought it was clever too.

they've only let Matt Walker ABSOLUTELY BUTCHER Mouths Of Babes live once. that's very leet.

this show was my second time seeing the Pumpkins, and the first time since i'd acquainted myself with pretty much their whole catalog. it being an opening slot for the Rolling Damn Stones, i figured they'd just play the hits. so opening with Ruby and In The Arms Of Sleep seemed like a treat... and when they played Mouths Of Babes, i was like "wtf i must be the only person here who even knows this song lol awesome lololol"... but when they played two songs that even i had no idea what they were yet, that was.........................................

still a shame about Walker, though.

yeah, for the short amount of time walker had to learn the catalog, he did OK. but his playing was pretty stiff, and obviously was trying hard to keep up at times.

I was at that show too. They played "Need" which turned out to be Blissed and Gone and dedicated to the boys in Pantera. I had such a great night. My friends and I always say the Rolling Stones closed for the Pumpkins.

This was my least-favorite SP show of all time.

Today, in SP history...nothing notable happened for me...although in '97 I probably listened to the Pumpkins while working my paper route. Mouths of Babes has always been one of my favorite songs.
