ooooh ok i didn't think you were that dumb

i think it's the third largest school in florida. seems like it's just like my alma mater, just accept anyone and even if they flunk out after a year or two you still get the money to build your football team or in UTSA's case line their pockets and build fancy buidlings for the administration and graduate programs.

i mean i'll listen to why you think it's worse, but i don't see it.
Auburn was definitely better last year and SC might have been as well.

Florida is worse as well.

But, really it's not a matter of thinking the SEC isn't "as good" but that there is a lot more parity in general, and also the Pac-10 has really risen up. It's just part of the cyclical nature in CFB.

If I were to break it down (again, this is totally subjective), I would do it like this:

Offensively the Pac-10 has had a lot of good offenses this year - I mean, just dominating. Sometimes this can be chalked up to poor defenses, but their defenses have looked at least average if not a bit better - and the offenses are still just potent. The SEC has also had a good year offensively, but no where near what the pac-10 has. They can move the ball, but the athleticism shown in big-plays and those "wow-type" moments are really lacking. They definitely churn it out, but it's not the poetry and perfection in skill that has been shown out west.

On defense, I've already mentioned the pac-10's improvement - games aren't 47 to 34 anymore. The SEC has had phenomenal defense in the past, but this year they have looked... average. Still very good, but much slower and less athletic than year's past. A good showpiece game for the Pac-10 on this offense/defense argument was Cal/Oregon - if you didn't watch it, then find a torrent. You look at the firepower and lack of mistakes on both sides of the ball, low penalties (which is a miracle with he tightwad refs in the pac-10) and just pure effort and skill all around.

I think the SEC has far better coaching this year, however, far better. In fact, with (and I will say this even though it might be sacrilege) the inferior individual athletes that the SEC has this year, the coaches have done a tremendous job. There are still a few dumb mistakes going on, and some bungled execution, but SEC coaches are head and shoulders above the rest of CFB.

Maybe if you don't include Houston Nutt. I can't think of too many people in the nation doing a worse job than he is.

hey jczeroman, are there torrents of games that are just snap to snap without all the bs inbetween? i love the NFL network's rebroadcasting of games minute to minute without any of the play clock standing around shit.

not that it matters since i'm the only one who picked that game but Ohio State is totally gonna beat Michigan State but I'm pretty sure that MSU will give them a fight.

The Ol' Ball Coach got his ass kicked by Vandy.

Fuck yes. In other news, Texas is really bad and Oklahoma is struggling with Iowa State. Ouch.

Iowa State probably threw that last game since the head coach of ISU was the Texas d. coordinator last year.

And I told you Vandy was better than 5.

Ohio State and BC both lose next week, so LSU and Oklahoma will be 1 and 2 like they should be all along.

Things tend to always work out in NCAA football (unless you're an Auburn fan).

I told you guys 2-3 weeks ago this Oklahoma team didn't deserve they're ranking, and you guys were jizzing all over them. Texas blew out this Iowa State team in Iowa by like 50 points, while Oklahoma just limped over them 17-7.

You're full of shit, Oklahoma is porous and inconsistent. Maybe they'll be number 2, but not "like they should be all along," that's for sure.

OK, the ending to that LSU-Auburn game was off the wall.

LSU nearly fucked themselves out of a title.

Les Miles is either the smartest coach in the entire country, or he's trying to vie with Houston Nutt to be the undisputed absolute dumbest.

That took some balls.

It's sad that probably none of you saw the Oregon/UW game tonight. Wow... maybe this is the duck kool-aid talking - but I have never seen an offense like this, even in the Joey years. 465 rushing yards is just plain nuts. No turnovers (1 end of half heave to the endzone shouldn't cost them) and a defense that kept a great QB like Locker in check at his own stadium.

I'm just beyond belief right now at the consistency I've seen from these guys all year. Oregon doesn't fumble the ball into the back of the endzone against Cal and this team is #1 and in their own tier. However, just like LSU (who doesn't look as dominant anymore) and OU - they made their 1 mistake out of 100 at the wrong time.

Cal losing to that shitty UCLA squad doesn't help your case though.

That was a ridiculous post. Take issue with Oregon's ability, their injuries, or with their play against California, but do not attempt to judge Oregon based on California. If this season has shown anything -- it's that transitivity doesn't exist to the point of judging X upon how Y played Z.

Oregon has played seven games of their own, doubtless better examples of their ability than another team's play. Maybe watching the game, or the highlights, or just reading a summary and checking the stats would be wise, because interrupting an honest commentary with "But California sucked today" is too simple.

blahblah i admittedly haven't seen much of oregon. i was impressed by the way they hung with Cal, until Cal was exposed as being pretty mediocre. Maybe they're a top-3 team, but i'm not putting them ahead of LSU or....

hm. that's really all i got off the top of my head. maybe they should be #2 at this point. the assertion that Oklahoma is better doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
