Setlist is wrong. Replace "The Crying Tree Of Mercury" by "By Starlight" then you have it right.

Seriously, when you play a festival YOU DON'T PLAY A SETLIST LIKE THIS. That's the bottom line. Have SOME consideration for other 90% of the people that just know the hits.

no united states
no glass
no superchrist
no neverlost
no crying tree

replace all those with singles

disarm
Rocket
muzzle
zero
cherub

That is a festival setlist.

When you play a normal show you can throw in a few more non traditional songs.

Anyways, back to hiding.

also, it was "united states feat. canada's national anthem + speaker shutdown/fuckup right when the song should pick up". the crowd was happy to see D'Arcy but they were confused by the lack of Iha, that's how (the audience is).

That does not exclusively apply to festivals. Those songs suck, even at headline shows.

I'd say Crying Tree is pleasant enough in acoustic, 2 minute form

I was there, in the first row and it was fucking awesome. The people was very enthousiasmic (?) and Billy was really happy, i don't know why. There were a couple of good solos and the voice of billy was perfect. Really good show.

NB: Sorry the english is not my first langage.

I'm not sure you've been following the news... Did "D'Arcy" look like this:

How long did the speaker problems last? Was Billy pissed?

They played Bullet, Tonight Tonight, Hummer, 1979, SIYL, Tarantula! Is that "no consideration" for the casual fans?? If they replaced all the other songs that you listed, the show would be almost 100% singles. Do you honestly think Billy has any desire to do that?

And why would they not play U.S.? The song fucking rocks, and if I'm not mistaken, has been played at every show this year. It is one of the flagship Zeitgeist songs. Billy is all about pushing forward, not living entirely in the past.

Keep following the setlists as if you're not interested at all. Enjoy the Britney Spears comeback! How pathetic.

And did John Norris have plastic surgery? Guy used to be a respectable VJ (15 years ago). The only reason I have this show on is to get a look at the Palms since I'll be there on Thursday

The sound drop in United States lasted a max of 10 seconds. Wasn't that long although it was a little disappointing since it occurred RIGHT at the point where it transitions from the slower middle part to the 'kill your eardrums with rock' ending.

I must admit that I was looking forward to seeing them more in their own arena/club tour but figured they wouldn't be touring much more on this album (hopefully I'm wrong!). As Deric said, Billy was in an amazing mood...he started laughing at someone while singing United States...don't know what happened. Maybe a girl flashed him or something.

I must say that I find Ginger has found her element. I've only seen the video from the Rock Am Ring to compare to but I found she didn't move around that much in that video. Last she was rocking out big time. Maybe it was to keep warm on stage - there was a nice chill coming through late at night.

Highlights for me was hearing Superchrist and the new Heavy Metal Machine as I stopped keeping up with the bootlegs as soon as the residencies happened...mainly because I want to wait for the DVDs to appear (thanks to all who are putting some hard work into them) and also because I wanted to have a few surprises in store for when I saw them in Montreal. I love how Heavy Metal Machine has morphed into a super jam. Overall the show blew me away. Definitely better than the Machina tour I saw when they stopped into Barrie. My girlfriend thought the lightshow was a little overpowering and she couldn't see the stage that well because it was always in her eyes, although I didn't really have any problem with the excellent light show.

My only complaint is the prices of tour shirts. Gak, why can't they make them for under $30 anymore? Ah well. I will definitely go see them again if they come near Ottawa/Montreal again. I was hoping for a little Starla action, but am not too disappointed as they rocked.

bill's greatest hits trodthrough with cheap replacements is much more pathetic than britney coming back after having babies.

I heard the "D'Arcy comment" a couple of times in the crowd by people who just didn't know ... just like there were many who weren't even aware they had split up to begin with.

I have to say it was an awsome show
the sound was so sharp and sparklee
blew me away!

the cut out during US was a huge let down... especially since the band didn't react
it's fucking rock and roll and if he PA dies, the band should stop and yell and swear and throw a guitar and fucking fire someone
not just keep rocking like it doesn't matter....
30,000 people staring at you going "what the fuck dude?" you put your guitar down
but... hey... maybe the stage volume was so intense that they seriously didn't notice it...

I met someone from the HUB who taped the show...
it'll be up for sharing in a few weeks... and that's awesome!!!

HMM went into some cover song.... might have been "On The Road Again" by "Canned Heat" like at the toronto show...

it was a fucking awesome show
the lights were amazing
the setlist was as great as it could get considering the 1.5 hour limiatation

i got a free ticket (as did 80% of the people there)
Osheaga is such a hack festival it's awesome...
it's pretty much a free concert for anyone who's part of the music community...
they had soo many free tickets to give away it was rediculous
gotto love montreal for keeping it real.....

as much as part of me wishes billy would let a dead dog lie
the show really burnt all the lies
reborn...
i should have made the pilgrimage to the residency shows
man do i regert it at this time...

new HMM and G&GC is soo awesome and fresh sounding....
That's the way & Never lost were really post TFE sounding...
the fucking sparkling wall of sound
never heard anything like that before
such clarity... yet intense like the SD wall of muff.....
(too bad no starla though...)
can't wait to see them next time....

AWESOME to hear that it was recorded. Kudos to whomever taped it. Very excited to get a copy.

As for the PA cutting out...I don't know much about being on stage and whatnot, but I have a feeling that bands don't really notice if the PA cuts out or not because they are surrounded by their amplifiers. The only real indication they have is the fact that the crowd may be giving them the strangest looks.

I remember seeing Sam Roberts Band in Ottawa in a club and the PA cut out for THREE SONGS and they didn't even notice until they made a posting the next day on their website saying "We've been informed our PA cut out." so they clearly didn't notice. Also, didn't this happen with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at a festival a few weeks ago?

Anyhow, so just that to say that yeah it sucks that it went out (at the worst time ever) but maybe the band doesn't notice those things being on stage with a wall of sound.

I echo all your comments though T&T...it was a great show and I just realized that the sound was crystal clear. Especially with By Starlight > To Sheila. My God, the crowd was quiet.

Cheers.

I loved the set (i would have regardless of song selection, honestly). But I think Superchrist is too similar to U.S. for the two to be in sucha short set... and the HMM version they did wasn't my favourite part (I was wishing for gossamer i guess)
But the band seemed to be enjoying it, which helped. I was up front on Ginger's side, i have a new appreciation for her. The keytar on TTW was fun.
