if you want to pick on someone, people that eat milk products are stupid. the human digestive track was not made to handle them.

choosing not to eat meat because you don't feel it's right, i don't see how that's so dumb.

Why does what people eat make you so fucking angry? If you want to eat pigeon turds, that's absolutely fine with me.

Well, the fact that they're trying to make their dog into a vegan is pretty ridiculous. Other than that, live and let live.

Oh yeah, and dogs are omnivorous btw. The people probably are afraid to let the dog hunt for its own food b/c of traffic or whatever, and also want to avoid dogfood that has all kinds of scary shit in it (like "recycled" pets that are euthanized etc. I fucking kid ye not).

I would think it would inspire hilarity before anger, though.

Yeah, dogs can technically be vegetarians, they have vegetarian food out there that's for dogs. Some dogs have allergies to certain meat products, so they have to eat vegetarian dog food.

i agree.

dogs are omnivors, but i believe that most of their natural diet still consists of meat.

Humans on the other hand are omnivores, but our natural diet is more based on vegetation. We've evolved from apes, who are naturally herbivores.

I don't think there is any other animal on the planet which is more unnaturally obese than the human and one of the reasons that is, is down to the amount of meat we eat.
It is because of our state of evolution that we so far at the top of the food chain, high positions should warrant high responsibilities.

I eat meat, so I'm not saying that I'm all innocent, I think that the justification for animal sacrifice to eat only what you need to is fair, and I still commend people who are willing to take up vegan or vegetarian diets.
I’m just too lazy to do that.

And to clarify....I have no problem with vegans. I have problems with vegans who believe that animals should be vegans.
Oh yeah, and vegans who believe that honey exploits bees. Other than that I'm cool w/ it.

A dog's environment is one that is removed from nature. It is the definition of a dog since dogs are the only of their canine counterparts to not exist in the wild at all. Thus their captive, artifical surrounding is their natural environment, as modified by the lifestyle of their owner. This is natural for the dog to adapt to the lifestyle of their owner. Like, farmers, for example. Sheep herding was never function for a dog, but we don't accuse farmers of forcefully imposing their lifestyle on an animal. The same should be said for vegans. Or I dunno, did thi smake sense?

I remember there was some article posted here about a vegan couple who fed their child nuts and such and it starved to death...or was like 10 lbs at age 2 or something. I dunno.
Anyways, in that case, everyone here was like "that's so unfair"

I would argue that humans, given a choice, should be allowed to be vegans. However, dogs and cats, naturally carnivores, who can't voice their opinions, should be fed their natural diet.

i don't think that the artificial quality of our lifestyle should determine what eating habits we should impose on them; that just because they live with us, they should eat the same diet as we do..

I don't think there is a massive difference between wild and domesticated dogs.
Aside from the fact that they have been domesticated due to a symbiotic relationship with man, I don't think there is such a biological difference.

The whole BSE mad cow scare was due to the fact that farmers were feeding their cows meat-based food (ground up from sheep i believe), and i think this illustrates the importance of having responsibility regarding what we force animals to eat.
