The longer we're over there - the worse it is going to get. We are turning moderate Muslims into radicals by the minute.

The surge is working. Fox reported we are killing over 1500 radicals/mo. now. Better there than here. The war started on 9-11 and we are winning. We drew our battle line in Iraq, and the radicals can come to us there. The radicals don't have the capacity for a TET like offensive.. and if they do they will be distroyed by the tens of thousands. Get used to it, we will be "over there" for many years!

Research the Tet offensive and then get back on whether or not the radicals dont have the capacity to do it.

secondly, anyone that begins a sentence with "Fox reported..." cannot be taken seriously...

And to add to that report, Sen. Jon Warner (senior Republican and former chairman of the armed services committee) came out today and said troop withdrawal should begin. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalra...-calls-on.html
Aside from the debate of "how many bad guys are being killed, and how many of our soldiers are being killed?" the evermore evident fact that the Iraqi government, as it stands, is incapable of resolving any issues vital to the country's future is the biggest pain in the ass nowadays.

Funny that someone mentions Fox and then one of you says RRRRRT!

To you an ‘Iraqi Tet’ would mean “SEE, we told you America can’t win over there”
The same to me would mean massive enemy casualties and would be the last Islamist gasp there.

The Tet offensive was a Communist hale marry and the ball bounced on the field. Ho Chi Mein through a fifty yard pass to the Viet Cong in a desperate effort to get there first six points. We where beating them 42-0 and we forfeited in the forth quarter.
Walter Cronkite was a butt fucking quitter just like Harry Reid is today.

Also a Democrat said just the opposite very recently. They showed Jon and the guy I'm talking about in the same segment.
Also the guy that I'm talking about (the name would be nice I know, you probably wont believe me) went to Iraq. He come back quit optimistic. A Democrat!

The Tet Offensive occurred in January of 1968. The only reason cup you believe the US was winning 42-0 was because the Johnson administration at that time was telling the American public that we were winning the war. If it was such a US blowout, then why the continual war for another 5 years?

Cannon Fodder: noun
soldiers who are regarded as expendable in the face of artillery fire

Which is the problem with Political wars, war strategy is too cucibled these days with brass calling the shots from Florida all the time...and a real weak leader as President fills the formula for disaster.

but,

jczeroman,

aren't you at least willing to see a 'chicken or the egg' discussion about your statement, because the Jihad by the Muslim's fulfills terrorist attacks all over the world, including Buddhist temples and Russian school houses.

I'm really waiting to hear from Petraeus.

And I agree with Omega in that this war, like all wars since 'Nam, has been run by politicians and not generals, which is how it should be done.

Really, 'cause all I've heard from military friends and folks that have been over there is that it's having a positive effect... even some democrat senators have said so.

And I agree with Nimrod, I'm interested in what Petraeus will have to say. I just wonder if everyone who's dead-set of negativity will accept it if he actually gives a positive report.

I've heard a lot of the same from those who have been/are over there, but they're still really pissed off at both Congress and Bush for not letting them just do their fucking jobs.

I love how bipartisian after bipartisian reports come back from Iraq stating what is the obvious and how people still turn a blind eye to them. The malaki government is a puppet government that as soon as the US leaves, it will fall. The ethnic divide is not going to heal. If the war was going well, then why 4.5 years of fighting?

As have I.

My cousin wrote this two months ago... "We will have to turn the entire place into a parking lot before it's over. They say we are in a kinder gentler war. I don't know who the enemy is. If we have to blow it up to hell lets do it and go home. We can't win this."

And that is what he said word for word. fuck you cup, don't even dis this shit.

Malaki is a weak leader but not a puppet you conspiracy kook. Millions of Iraqis voted for him to take office as the Iraqi president.
I partly agree with you in that Iraqi will fail due to his weak leadership if we leave now.
When the government returns form vacation I think they will get lots of work done. They have already passed sixty bills of legislation. But they do have more to get finished.
I don't think we should remove Malaki, it's really not our place right now and would piss lots of Iraqis off. I just think we need to give him a little Push out the door.

4.5 years. This war is not going to be easy, it is going to get worse soon before it gets better.

Your cousin is in the minority. Most soldiers are happy to be kicking so much ass.
Morale is high and is growing with the surge.
I strongly believe in the mission, but I would get home sick too, like your cousin.

We can win this, and we will if only you were patient.

It's not just about being homesick, it's about being tired of killing up innocents because you don't know who your enemies are. And tired of watching kids get blown up etc.

your cousin sounds like a racist piece of shit. how am i supposed to give a fuck if we are losing 1000 troops a day when that is their attitude? "let's just blow it all up and get out of here"

i hope someone blows him up to hell so you can put that quote on his tombstone. US casualties are obviously a smaller price to pay than the cost of hummers or w/e. these are just guys who would be back home shooting dogs on their ranches if it wasnt for the war

he must be really disillusioned not knowing who the enemy is. i guess he just thought iraq would just be funner than shooting rabbits and deer and his life would never be in much danger since our weapons are better

now he finds out not only is "baby killers" a misnomer, you can actually be tried and hung out to dry for raping 14 yr olds etc

I think Cup the real question is how many American soldiers have to die before you at least consider the possibility that this war was a huge mistake?
Some might say 3000 is a low number for a 4 year war. Some might argue that these men signed up and knew what they were getting themselves into. But I find it hard to believe that they signed up to reinstitute American Imperialism...

killing more "radicals" =/= winning

Petraeus' report is going to be suspect anyways since its being written for him by the whitehouse.

Again your cousin is an ineffective. He has no business being a professional soldier. His doubts and softness is going to get his buddy’s killed or injured.

Ratking17 Fighting The Islamist Is Vital To American Interest You Fucking Spineless Pussy!
Sorry for yelling, excuse my vitriol.

If we lost seven million dead it wouldn’t even phase me.

If I where drafted I would sing America Fuck Yeah all the way to the desert. And when I got there I would be a ruthless killer, I would kill with out mercy, I would make them suffer. Not just because it would be my job, but because I Want to kill them.
I would be dishonorably discharged for killing when it is inappropriate
Or killed after running out of ammunition Or kicked out for decapitation and ear collecting.

The difference between you and me is that you want to appease and make nice, have talks and empathize with the enemy. Where as I will do the above.

Reinstate American Imperialism? You conspiracy minded Kook!

Remember the Islamist declared war on you too. I hope that you are happy that there are people like me to protect you from those people. But I know your not.
