As a side note to Bush-bashing, I don't think his promotion of religious service provision is appropriate either.

but if you want to regurgitate this to justify Religious Leftist crap for the sake of undermining nationalism and patriotism at all cost, you need to do better. The ACLU would like this effort though. |

The rest of the world looks up to us, and once we start making distinct cuts in armaments (which will start once Gore wins the Presidency, again), the rest of the world will look positively on that. Until then, we're just going to continue to look like bullies to the rest of the world, and we're going to continue to get attacked. |

Religious Left aptly describes the enemies within our nation. Moreover, there's a well-defined Religious Right in this country...ying-yang, up-down, right-left. simple logic for the absolutist among us. Now, if you're a Nihilist, I can't help you. But a career in Sociology would be my advice.

The problem with the US is not that you have and we have not. Or that we're weary of your power in a nuclear sense. It's a simple fact that through the 50s 60s and 70s NZ developed a strong environmental backbone. Personally I think the Nuclear issue is over blown and we should accept it but the majority (90% in the 80s) of people want NZ nuclear free. For better or for worse that is what the people here want NZ to be and the governments have a democratic responsibility to recognise that. The second biggest industry in NZ is tourism and most of that is Euopean, American and Asian people coming to NZ under the impression that this is a "clean, green place". Far from the truth but more so than most places and the nuclear free stance is more benfit to NZ in terms of $$$$ than it is a detriment in terms of lost opportunity. The detriment to NZ is that we get the cold shoulder from the US in terms of military operations. Different goverments have different attitudes towards arms expenditure so we're always changing in that respect but NZ will probably never tollerate nuclear power. I think in general people here don't take kindly to being bullied by US military pretentions. When we have trouble funding health and educations why should we be bullied into a billion dollar deal for f-16s that we don't really need. It goes back to the Rainbow Warrior bombing (terrorism if you like). Initiated by the French, known by US and British forces but ignored. It pretty much told NZ that having a "green" conscience is a reason to be bullied. |

the main mantra i hear from the extreme left is that the Taliban and the Bushy's were in cahoots with each other. Maybe not buddy-buddy type stuff but a mutually beneficial relationship that would allow an Oil pipeline through Afgahnistan.
disgusting if true. it appears so. the oil thing is tied to all this but that's really a seperate argument that includes alternate energy sources and global warming, etc. But none of that means 9/11 is a conspiracy for malicious Gestappo-like tactics from Bush. Still doesnt. The attack on the WTC in '93 is prime evidence the muslim extremist sole intent is a Jihad against the infidels. But the religious/extreme left in this country like to deal in illusions and never quite make it to the maturity of good philosophy. Case in point: Michael Moore. Quote:
Moore goes on: Quote:
These people use the Constitution of the United States to undermine partriotism and nationalsim the way Al-Queda and the Taliban use Religion to justify their genocide against the infidels. All they really care about is anarchy and not much else. There's your Religious Left. |
