So, I'm a senior at University. I use to share an apartment with three girls but last year two graduated and I'm left with the other one whom I barely speak to. I'm sure she's a nice girl and all but we don't have much in common and we barely see one another but coexist peacefully.

Tonight she comes home from work crying and goes to her room and slams the door. I ask what's wrong she won't tell me. Later on her mom calls and asks me what's wrong with the girl because she talked to her and sounded "off" on the phone. Her mom and her have issues and don't talk much but even she realized something was up.

So, question, what should I do? We're not really the hug and console each other type but in the three years I've lived with her previously, she has never done this so I'm concerned.

i'm pretty sure that any stuffed animal would only make things worse.

a hug and a kiss are pretty much out of the question given that i barely know her. and, for the simple fact that we aren't lesbians nor have any desire to experiment as university girls apparantly are expected to do (sorry to ruin the fatasy--but if you need to think of pillowfights in only our bras and panties, then dream away).

i've lived with the girl for three years and i've tried to befriend her. trust me, she has brought this condition in our apartment on herself. we don't have much in common but the two girls that we use to room with. this lack of relationship between us is nothing new and we both knew what we were getting into when we decided to room with one another. so i doubt her issue is that.

and, she doesn't drink, at all. i tried to get her drunk once (when the other girls were there) we spiked her drink for fun. she figured it out, got annoyed, and locked herself in her room (and one of the girls out of hers) for the rest of the night.

also, i think having her committed is a little too much. and i doubt that giving her phone number to a stranger would help. and, i'd rather not have to kill any animal to get her to stop crying. and i'm pretty sure the elephants would trample me.

its not as bad as it sounds. we put like a splash of rum in her diet coke. we were all in the apartment by ourselves, just hanging out. we eventually apologized.

Caitlin attended college with Meadow and Noah Tannenbaum and shared a dorm room with Meadow. She has a manic-depressive disorder and frequently annoyed Meadow and Noah with her troubles. She went out with them for her birthday and had an anxiety attack after seeing a homeless woman with newspaper in her buttocks. When Meadow was away, she annoyed Noah while he was writing a paper, causing him to get a bad grade and later getting his father to file a restraining order against her. She has practiced cutting and pulled out her own hair. When A.J. was acting suicidal, Meadow made reference to a friend at college who acted similarly and eventually threw herself off the balcony. Though not mentioned by name, this was most-likely Caitlin.

It doesn't seem that bad, no, but theres just some things you don't fuck with. I can't think of a single person I've known thats refused to drink or smoke weed or anything similar that hasn't had some sort of history of drug abuse within their immediate family, be it their mom or dad or whoever. It might seem harmless but you can really mess with someones head like that. I don't know, I'm no psychiatrist but thats something I'll never screw around with.

I'd probably just slip a note under the door saying that even though you guys aren't close, you're genuinely concerned and want her to know that you're there if she needs anything.
