I've been wondering this, too. I've come to the conclusion that since my sister's birthday is in June, Billy keeps using "June" as a way to let me know he wants to marry me. That's probably your best bet.

But in all seriousness, I've wondered this as well. I have no idea.

First off, June is one of the first and most basic words to rhyme.

Also, I remember Corgan stating somewhere that he was constantly renaming his 'perfect' woman -- June, Ava, Sheila, Daphne, Lily, etc... I'm sure there's more.

To quote Muzzle:

"Have you ever heard the words I'm singing in these songs?
They're for the girl I've loved all along"

Ideal woman, then.

Corgan can't be picky, nowadays.

It's been floating around from the past, but it's a fun topic to discuss. The use of June in Billy's songs can be seen in many different ways, all of which are sensible and leave it within reason for him to make use of the word repeatedly.

First of all we need to look at June as a word. It's 1 syllable and can fit in many places. It does rhyme easily, true. But best of all is its diction. It has a long "oo" sound to it, which is calming and soothing. This fits perfectly with its meaning as a month, or time of the year. Now, as far as June as a month goes, June marks the beginning of Summer. Summer's always viewed as the season of warmth and rest. For some June's when school ends, which is clearly going to be an enjoyable time for many. He also uses it because it can function as a name. That it can function as a name means it has three reasons, and that it has three reasons for use can be considered a fourth reason, that being that it has so many different positive qualities as a word for songwriting. But as far as a name goes, when he says "Bye June" it can mean both goodbye to a person and farewell to a time, perhaps a time that has very specific meaning to him. "Bye June" can mean the bidding goodbye to a month as a representation of a time in one's life. June happens in the middle of the life, so he could be saying goodbye to a time where someone sees their end coming and they're ready to accept it and move on. "See you in June" could mean something as simple as "We'll be apart but we'll be together when school's out" or "When the Summer arrives and the Sun's high we'll be brought together again" and even "I'll see you when I feel good again" because he likes June. Every song's use could be completely different, a different purpose and meaning assigned to June each time. But yes he uses June frequently and he uses it well. He, either consciously or subconsciously, recognizes that it has excellent diction and is a multi-purpose word, and for this he uses it in his poetry as he pleases. It could come down to something as simple as he just really loves the month or it fits easily into rhyme, and it could be a thousand times more complex. I haven't pulled any quotes from him about it thus far, so if anybody wants to add, go ahead. I hope people don't give him shit about it because I'd think it's a word that means more to him than we'll know.

Has anyone else noticed that Corgan adds "for you" onto a lot of his lyrics?

This subject has been discussed for years & years & years & years.

My questions is, where are the female referances (specificaly names) in Zeitgeist. Yeah, I am sure they're there, but it hurts to think.

I don't know but I think that VH1 should use Billy in "Rock of Love" Season 2 and only cast girls with the names June, Ruby, Ava, Lily, Daphne and Sheila.

I second whatever this guy says. I'm finding myself disassociated with this album becasue of the lack of a strong feminine pressence or love interest, but not disapointed that we didn't have to think about June again.

June is the 6th month of the year...There is also 6 letters in Billy's last name, Corgan...Corgan starts with a C, which is the 3rd letter in the alphabet. The 3rd month of the year is March. The word "March" has 5 letters in it. The 5th letter in Billy's last name is A. A is the first letter in the word "Apple", which just happens to be one of Billy's top 10 fruits. The word "Fruit" starts with an "F", which is the 6th letter of the alphabet..and of course, June is the 6th month.

It comes full circle...so June is the perfect month...that's why Billy sings about it so much!
