Default "Fans fume over Pumpkins album"

Forgive me if this has been posted already, but I couldn't see it.

Seems the New Zealand media has picked up on this...

yeah it was mentioned in the thread about the Pitchform article. I found the posts they quote even (The one about the track order was by Quiet CD). How did you comment on it? I was looking for a way to do that earlier when I read it.

oh, that wasn't my comment. I did make a comment but it hasn't come up yet. There is a 'have your say' link down below the article. Use that to comment on it.

in this age of the internet we'll have to buy all four albums if we ever want to hear those tracks

i can sympathize with you; this is why i had to put it in my avatar!

anyway, about this article, it seems weird that pitchfork can write some ridiculous story based on their own prejudices against this band, and suddenly news sites around the world are trying to say that we, the fans, are all "outraged". Have any of them bothered to ask any of us, or are they all just basing this off of the pitchfork article? That's some fine journalism for you there, folks.

That article should be rewriiten as, people who dislike the pumpkins and won't buy the album anyways are crazy mad! Despite the fact Pitchfork media staff gets the cd for free, they are pissed!

I don't think any fans are outraged over this. Some may be a little upset, but the overwhelming attitude of the fans seems to be excitement and anticipation of the first album in 7 years. I'm glad that I'm getting a bonus track for free on my Best Buy copy. Who wouldn't want that?

Bands do this all the time, I wasn't fuming... I was just stating something that hadn't been pointed out in an otherwise ridiculous Pitchfork article. Suck my ass stuff.co.nz.

Yeah, Netphoria should compose a joint statement about this and send it to all of the major music news outlets. "We the people..."

I think they'll sell more records as a result of all the versions.

Not so much because people will rush out to buy three copies, but because Target, Walmart, and Best Buy all have incentive to advertise the album more.

They'll all be pimping their own exclusive versions in stores and advertising.

It's a good idea from a marketing point of view.

This is no different from having imports available in local retail outlets except that they cost a lot cheaper. I'm much more concerned with the quality of the music and the cost of concert tickets than record distribution. It seems like people will dig up any excuse to throw red paint on our beloved Bill.

Bullshit. Imports are imports. This is just a marketing gimmick.

Yes, it's a marketing gimmick, but it's effectively no different.
