the smashing pumpkins are the only band I like enough to waste time posting about them on a message board. They've been in the number one spot for me since 1993.
after that,

decemberists
the shins
radiohead
r.e.m.
queen
pink floyd
depeche mode
U2
Cold War Kids
Richard Swift
Neutral Milk Hotel
Sonic Youth
David Bowie
bright eyes

The pumpkins are my favourite band by a long, long way.

Pearl jam, the cure, pixies are all good but don't hold a candle to smashing pumpkins in my eyes.

i actually thought about this before deciding that yes, they probably are. there isn't really any other band i listen to with either the frequency or the attachment that i have for the pumpkins. and while i love them best, the following slots of are always a random mash of the same bands.

so, obviously, in no particular order other than #1:

1. pumpkins
- afghan whigs
- eels
- rasputina

The Beatles are my favorite band of all time. I find myself listening to them more than any other band. The Jimi Hendrix Experience is number 2, Prince is number 3, Smashing Pumpkins is number 4, and then Sonic Youth.

Then we have:

AC/DC
Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
The Velvet Underground
The Who
The Kinks
Kiss
Alice Cooper
Doobie Brothers
Lynard Skynard

and the list goes on and on...

I listened to Head Automatica for the first time yesterday... Horrible!! I had been putting off listening to them because I knew what they were about and I didn't want to ruin my image of Glassjaw. Now I wished I hadn't listened to them. Daryl needs to stop this Automatica crap and make another Glassjaw album.

I collected nearly all of their stuff in high school, and he smoked me up at Moby's Tweeter Festival way back when.

I'm really glad to see the disparity of tastes in this thread. Sure... it's easy to go "your music sucks"... but that's part of the fun of it... everyone's tastes are so different.

I'm surprised to see stuff like Mum, A Silver Mt. Zion, and another Beatles fan. As well.... so many liking Zeppelin. Seems like we all have pretty decent taste. Even tho' we'd question some inclusions on the other's list.

I mean... what if billy listed his and it went

*Yanni
*Celine Dion
*the Carpenters
*the Bee Gees
*the Band

etc...

you never know really haha.
