tofurkey sauages in my spicy pasta sauce tonight!
Same here, but that's kind of my point. There are all sorts of different personalities out there, so it's kind of silly to try and cram them all under one strictly guidelined blanket of eating habits. Lots of people have different bodies that crave or "need" different things-- it's silly to say or think if everyone stopped eating meat (or dairy or whatever), period, everyone would lead a more healthy life.

I'm also a huge advocate of the meat substitutes. I could go on for days about the first time I ever had seitan. My goodness. I'm not too huge on fake deli meats, though. They always seem to taste and smell like dog food to me. :\

i know what you mean about the fake deli stuff (i am yet to find a bacon substitute that doesn't look and taste like a beggin' strip), but if you haven't tried the tofurkey brand big sausages, i reccommend you do. they are nicely spiced!

I think... I may have had them before, but I'm not sure! I know I've had tofurky hot dogs. I'm not a huge hot dog fan to begin with, but those are tasty mixed together with some baked beans and/or macaroni. Super comfort food to the max! Spicy sausages sound really good, too, especially in some pasta like you mentioned. Mmm.

What is Seitan?

Also, Lanolin is extracted from the wool, after the shearing. So it's still using an animal, but you don't have to kill the animal to get it.

Snickers bars could contain animal piss semen and blood and if they tasted the same I'd still cram them into my gaping craw as much as possible.

"we're going to put animal products in our mars bars."
"well then we're going to boycott them!"
"it isnt really boycott tho if you dont eat any animal products at all."
"sorry my mind is feeble and weak from my diet."

a lacto-ovo vegetarian would have no problems eating a mars bar because of the milk, only because of the killing of a calf to get the rennet

Was that directed at me? It just doesnt make sense to say you are boycotting something because they've added ingredients you wont eat.

"Im not coming into your house!"
"Yeah... i locked the door"
"I know you locked the door, thats why im boycotting your house"
"I knew when i locked the door you wouldnt be able to get in."
"I can still boycott your house though!"
"Yeah... good for you"

it makes sense if the outcome isn't inevitably "yeah... good for you". in this case the outcome was "i've changed my mind. door's open". without a public campaign this wouldn't have happened

i am allergic to lanolin and it makes shopping for inexpensive personal care products really fucking blow. the last time i neglected to check the ingredient list on a new bottle of conditioner i ended up with a rash on my neck

lanolin's a common thing to be allergic to, but it's a cheap by-product of the wool industry so no one does anything about it.

well i'm sure they didn't kill the calf just for your particular bar. i wonder what the calf to snicker's bar ratio is? maybe you and 5 other guys did it, so you don't have to feel as bad.

It would have been so beautiful if they'd done the sums right beforehand and just stuck to their guns.

I have no clue what the shopping situation is like in Mississippi. I'm willing to bet you wouldn't find kosher or halal meat at Walmart, but you could probably find it in a smaller store or a butcher shop. You might have more luck finding halal then kosher. They have halal chicken and hot dogs in my grocery store, and I don't know of any Muslim families in my neighbourhood (but I know of a large Jewish community in this area).

Eat whatever you want. If you have no moral objections to what's being offered in your grocery store, chow down.

That doesn't make sense though. They didn't add an animal product directly to Mars bars, but instead used one in the making thereof.

Imagine if 100 slaves died while making the lock to the house in your example. So the repulsive part is not the locking of the door, but the process gone through to make the lock.

The point is so few people care about animal rights that they ought to accept the fact that sometimes their spending power is going to be outweighed by the low cost of animal product alternatives.

Sadly masterfoods pussied out and now iv got egg on my face.

Ok, but I think the negative press might have even hurt their sales to meat eaters?
