Default muse

why do people hate muse so much? I can understand why they might not be some peoples cup of tea, but they don't suck they just sound diffrent. Why do you love or hate Muse?

it does not matter to me if he sounds like yorke, i'd like it if radiohead still played music. I used to love radiohead and would see them live still if i could, but thir stuff after ok computer just doesn't do anything for me. Muse can steal the sound and actually make something that is entertaining i'm happy.

here it is, I think this pretty much covers it, it frustrates me that they are so talented yet stick to formulas and more grandiose production every time instead of evolving, plus the sharp intake of breath thing

Muse arent bad, they just make exceedingly cringeworthy teenage music for accounting students to feel dangerous, futuristic and individual to.

They're pretty much the warhammer 40k of the music world, except that people who like warhammer 40k realise they are uncool.

even though i still have fun listening to them, i can agree that they do put in alot of dumb apreggios, to people who don't play music they may sound like they are doing something totaly awsome, but its the kind of thing you learn in high school music class.

Muse is great.

I like all of their albums...although I agree that Origin of Symmetry is their best.

im a big muse fan, i think they have a separate sound from radiohead. radiohead is simply collectively better, but the guys in muse are amazing musicians. i cant stand bellamy's intakes either, but he's got so much talent. they make some great music, even though i do think they have the potential for much more. they arent bad at what they do. bh&r is a step in the right direction, i think.

absolutely amazing live act. they were nice enough to spend some time with their fans, too.

also, they aren't very good.

they are clinical and precise and tha music is soul-less and yeah he stole his voice from yorke but the biggest problem is those damn arpeggiations they throw into every song.

Bellamy is a pretty good front man for a band, despite whatever people say about him. Good guitarist, good on keys, good singer. I've learned to get over the breathing thing. Every vocalist has their own idiosyncrisies. BH&R is shit though. OoS was great and I love Absolution. The Absolution Tour DVD is excellent too. Their drummer is pretty fucking awesome. And the bassist - the bass line from Hysteria rocks!

Anyone who plays in a band, you would surely be glad if you had these dudes lining up to join. I know I would.

Plus how can you say Bellamy "stole" his voice from Thom Yorke? Thats just stupid. Ever think that's just how he sings? There's plenty of difference between the two IMO anyway.

Muses quality has been steadily dropping from the first album, but the only album i cant listen to is the new one. Its a super-massive black hole of crap.

maybe so... bellamy's voice is the best thing the band has going for them. besides that they are horribly flawed songwriters. it's sad really. both times i've seen them live the whole shredding thing has reeked of overcompensation for the lack of god songs.

I agree that their sound hasnt evolved a whole lot. "Black Holes and Revelations" seems a step backwards from some of the more personal, thoughtful moments in "Absolution." Though "Knights of Cydonia" is pretty crazy. "Starlight" is a really pretty, if very conventional, song. I really dig "Showbiz," thought "Origin of Symmetry" was far better, and that they managed to improve even more on "Absolution." "Absolution" is one of my favorite albums of the decade.
