You don't really. You just learn little tricks to negate the smell (vicks vaporub, alcohol swabs under the noise, ammonia inhalants).

Oh man, yes!! I saw trails and trails of these fellas when I was in Costa Rica. They were fascinating, but I definitely kept my distance.

Thankfully, I've never seen them in the States.
