Question Does anyone actually go on dates anymore?

Y'know, regular dating - not exclusively - but where one picks up the other and you go to dinner, or see a movie, or what not and get to know each other first and see how it goes, etc etc. And does anyone date multiple people? Does this approach even work anymore? And if you're not interested, how do you say, "I don't want to go on dates with anymore" without sounding like an asshole?

I think this form of dating isn't common anymore - you meet someone you like (how does THAT even happen? where?) and bam, you're "dating" exclusively.

Confused. As usual.

yeah, see, the physical usually happens first now. which is fine. but what if you're not sure you want to get physical - you want to get to know them first. it's like the physical is expected right away now.

i've never dated like that before, though my b/f once did the lava life thing and dated a lot of women- maybe 15-20 dates though nothing ever came of them.

yeah, school had better opportunities for meeting people. i never got the "senior scare" as seniors unattached scramble to find their "someone". they say you'll have a lot less choice after graduating. and it's true.

I've never heard the word "lava life"

I don't know what it means, but I want to live the lava life!

I don't think that is uncommon, but that is based solely on the fact of that is how I dated (pre-marriage) and how my friends date. I always considered everything to be unexclusive until an exclusivity talk (typically months after the first date) had been had.

I've never dated like that. All the long term relationships i've been in have come out of friendships first... even the more casual ones too.

usually when "seeing somebody" its with group of friends and that in and of itself is a date. conversely, i've been on a few genuine single dates (coffee, movie, fucking) but that sort of hinders it in the long run because it makes it difficult to integrate her into my group of friends. but then again i dont see how a girl would have fun drinking busch light and playing xbox anyway so whatevs

You're such a fucking moron. It's a dog-friendly bar, idiot. There are other dogs there. So my dog enjoys himself and I have some cocktails.

I really don't see where your anger comes from.

Oh, the never getting laid. Right.

Seeing as how you're gay, there may be a slight difference in heterosexual relations

yes and no. i think there are different sections of both straight and gay "communities" that date differently. in the end, it's all the same. i don't see how it's that much different.

You know, I've been seriously considering asking this girl out on a date recently, like the whole dinner and movie type thing. But I have absolutely no idea how, seeing as she's always with her friends. Still, I keep thinking about it. But now it's the end of the semester, so unless I act soon I guess I'll have to forget about that for a while.

For every girl that whines about guys not taking them out on dates, I hear other girls laugh about the standard "dinner and a movie" date. Maybe I'm just old school and traditional, but I love dinner dates. Hearing girls complain about the simple wine and dine makes me cold to women. STFU and stop complaining because I don't see anyone else stepping up to hit your pussy, bitch.
