Default gothic overtone?

With TPQ stating that the new album will be a cross between SD/MCIS is there anyone out there who is gonna miss some of the gothic overtones that pervade through Adore/M1/M2?

I will a bit.

I never would describe the pumpkins as being gothic really..

that being said I don't expect the album really to be like SD/MCIS.. it's just probably the closest comparisons they had. It will be different just like every pumpkins album.

I love the sound of adore and I like the Machina sound a lot too.

yeah you're right. there are plenty of obsessed faggots who are pathetic enough to dwell in the realms of those two albums

i'm pretty sure the band will have a mildly theatrical dress style on this record, probably something in the way of very sharp uniforms, possibly of some pseudo-military description.

jimmy will be donning a fake Lord Kitchener (sp?) handlebar mustache

nice post edit

you know whats gay about bands? most of them actually try to seem like they are in a band. if i was in a band i would totally not make it seem like i was in a band. theres no reason to change who you are because you're in a band. I mean sure you can dress up to play a gig (if you're in a metal band) but theres no reason to dress like a gutter punk faggot all the time

gutter punk faggot? whilst what you're saying is generally true of many bands, especially when they're riding a wave (emo, goth, punk, whatever) the pumpkins have always been careful to choose a dresscode that fits their music or says something about where they're at personally.

I'm not talking about the pumpkins but rather any band. would anyone honestly want to dress like half of the bands in the u.s. do? I think not...

what I'm saying is that sure the way you look affects how well you'll be recieved by fans but you shouldn't dress that way all the time just to please people. I'm certain that black band/hot topic/nonsense shirts feel awful and look pretty bad as well, yet people in faggot bands can't stop wearing them

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Adore. Machina I can see disliking but you fail at liking music if you can't see any value in Adore.

Personally, I find it severelly disappointing. I loved that feeling/ atmosphere the gothic feeling gave off. *puts up flame sheild* I found SD to be one of the most annoying albums I've ever listened to. I swear If he brings back that voice muffler...

I like adore and think that it really is a great album but honestly, I can't listen to it much. it's too negative and I'm really out of that phase to listen to it much.

machina on the other hand had some ok songs but overall isn't really anything special

I don't think the band as a whole ever carefully coordinated a dresscode. I think Billy started experimenting with fitting his own style to his music around the time MCIS came out (the Zero costume, which was cooler than it had any right to be), but I think the rest of the band's fashion choices were their own from beginning to end. I don't think there was ever a time where the band looked like they were on the same page fashionwise by design.

no i don't think it was too strictly coordinated but i'm sure as they had a basic agreement to dress appropriately for any occasion or photoshoot. i doubt billy told any of them exactly what to wear, but if they had a video or photoshoot coming up i think they'd probably agree to wear stuff that was complimentary, or at least they'd have a stylist helping them out.

As long as their comeback isn't as shitty as Green Day's revival I'm happy.

I won't miss it; not that I hate it, however they've used enough of that for the time being, and I think they know it.
