Hey, Pumpkin Queen, what's the order of succession for the Smashing Pumpkins monarchy? Don't you think in this day and age a hereditary system of government is positively archaic?

Dear Pumpkin Queen,

Can the Smoke Monster on "Lost" also change its form into individuals as well, as was strongly infered in the episode "The Cost of Living"?

surely,

as I was mentioning to someone who PM'd me,

i think its simple one way or the other.

black and white is like a negative picture. a negative view of the U.S. You could draw further things I suppose that its 'dead' or something.

kind of blank. lack of color. lack of vibrancy. i think it parrellels the nations condition in some odd way. nothing wrong with providing a backdrop which to draw from and to dance along nationalistic symbols is interesting, but i guess to some others, its taboo.

I don't want the new sp to be the next "i don't want to be an american idiot" band. If the american flag makes your heart warm and fuzzy inside and you're a patriotic person, fine. But don't get all raw with me just because i think the new design is unoriginal. Guess what, it's fuckin' been played out! Is that so hard to except? The black and white doesn't mean shit to me and if it was done in any other colors, it probably would have looked like shit anyways. I bet The Omega Concern wants the new sp to do a cover of "born in the usa".

Well, they don't walk around in costumes of "The blue Meanies", the fictional music-hating creatures who invade Pepperland in the movie Yellow Submarine.

They are a great chicago band.

Ha. Funny. Personally, I believe a monarchy is more of a ceremonious institution in the present day than an actual ruling body - with the exception of certain Asian countries (barring Nepal who have recently overthrown their monarch, correct?) and that the preservations of these institutions is important. PS...any Anglophiles should see The Queen...just saw it...great film.

That being said - the answer is Yes to whoever asked about to my involvement w/ the website. New content, new site is coming soon.

I got a lot of work to do so I'll be hopping off here but there's some minor updates.

If Locke "lifts up his eyes and looks north" and he sees the Smoke Monster suddenly morphing to the SP flag . . . well, then we're simply through the looking glass, people.

so if the original was black and white, the U.S. is dead! mystery solved.

and if that Captian America vs. Hitler pic surfaces next, maybe there's hope after all. only it'll be Billy vs. Ahmedinajad and Billy's got him in a figure-four putting the vice on. ya. crack his skull with the guitar. yah! do it. do it.

anyway, yah. i'll save it for the poli-forum, but the country is fucked. i see a b&w photo of a U.S. flag. seems about right to me. i know the SP hearts are there and that's cool, other than that, I havent given it much thought.

douglas78 however is not alone in his sentiment and it's fine to have it, i just thinks a little unfair to be hyper-critical of it is all.

There's nothing wrong with disliking the artwork and discussing, I just cannot believe how much people are freaking out over it. OMGz1!1 oh no EMO1!!!1 no better not be AMERICZAN IDOT 2!!!

Honestly, what the fuck. You all know very well Corgan would never do a political album and if you believe he would you truely are out of touch and maybe shouldn't invest 15 dollars in the next release.

And as for the emo accusations, their logo is a motherfucking heart for God sakes, it's already ridiculous and emotionally overblown.

I just can't figure out why people have responded to the stupid fucking flag like it was a speaker for the new album.

But you're right, that flag does piss me off a little bit... oh well...

P. S. And Alternative Rock is not grunge
ok I know this is derailing the thread but what the hell is wrong with being classy? Treating others the way you'd want to be treated? I mean let's compare Billy to Fred Durst back in the days when he was sorely lacking class, just to make an easy point...ok, Billy swears in a song or two but when he does it has meaning compared to Fred...that's classy. The Pumpkins would never make light of a situation like the one that happened when Limp Bizkit played woodstock and then had in their next video "It wasn't out fault" Everyone that's met Jimmy w/ the Complex said how gracious Jimmy was to the fans and Billy seems very appreciative of his fans, too. I was at Billy's solo show in DC and he was tearing up when he was thanking the audience. The Pumpkins captured me as a fan with the Tongiht, Tonight video which was artistic and very classy (IMHO) I mean it was truly meant to be beautiful, entertaining, and had a lot of heart poured into it.

Now don't get me wrong. It's amazing somehow when the Pumpkins push the line and show they're interested in not putting people asleep, sure, I wouldn't want them to all be perfect. I like that it's too loud, raccous, and etc. for some people to get it - it's not your mom's music! Rock and Roll sounds better sometimes when it's not 100% perfect, I like that the Pumpkins know how to be a rock and roll band. And we have all witnessed Billy act from time to time like a petty beyotch and I just say, well I guess that's covering up something else because he's really hurt and it's OK that he's not perfect either.

Billy has said the Pumpkins fall within the realm of popular music. I mean just look at the Beatles for an example of good pop music. Or songs the Pumpkins have covered - I want you to want me, landslide, Dancing in the Moonlight. Does Billy hate pop? No he takes from it and uses it to make those catchy melodies people jump up and down to while he sneaks in what he has to say. I mean Today - that has a pop structure to it. I don't know what else I can say but "alternative good pop bad" seems to simplistic to me and it neglects the fact that there are "alternative" bands out there that do music by the numbers even more than some pop acts. And saying gaudy - well some people would say the Pumpkins were overblown or whatever and not simple enough to really be rawkin' but they used grandiosity in a good way instead of the bad way you're probably associating with "pop" I mean c'mon stings on Tonight, Tonight and all those guitar overdubs on SD...but he makes it all rawkin.

In the end it's not their "do whatever the fuck we want" attitude that has given them a legacy (all though they did have that and blazed their own path...) but it's behind it all you'll find a lot of depth and beauty. The actual talent that seeps though to combine with the personalities.

So in short I'm glad the Pumpkins are rock and roll, and I'm glad they can also be classy because it means they're both interesting and gracious to their fans.
