yes but not as much as if they'd voted Bob Rae. the guy is still on NDP fundraising mailing lists.

not that Bob Rae is a pansy (he's got to be pretty thick-skinned to carry around so much baggage), just that he's practically a socialist, whereas Dion is a little more progressive. either way, go environmentalism!

yeah but Republican is a political party, not a philosophy. There is republicanism which is a philosophy of how government should be run, along with monarchy, democracy, totalitarianism. Republicanism was very much in vouge in the early 19th century, which is probably why the GOP took the name for themselves. There was already a fight about this earlier on the general board and I'm tired of talking about it. All I'm saying is that i'm sick and tired of people re-labeling political philiosophies based entirely on ignorance and liberalism is so muddied it has become a completely useless term to describe anything at all. What I really dislike is the fact that economic liberalism, or libertarianism, has become some how "conservative" since the Republican party endorses its ideals more. It's all about labeling, so that Republicans can stand up and point at a Democrat who favors higher taxes, public health care, and homosexual marriages as a LIBERAL which is a synonym in their lexicon to mean scum of the earth. Now Democrats who are in favor of regressive economic policies and restrictions on smoking and guns proudly apply the label to themselves. It doesn't really make any sense to me.

A Liberal Party is fine, I guess.

The only problem I have with newfies is that I have no idea what they are saying when they speak (English). Otherwise newfies are A-Ok in my books
