i still use an old creative zen 30gig that i've had for about 3 years.. main times i use it tho is on the bus to and from uni, so a flash player is all i need for that.. almost bought a nano until i spotted this heavenly beast:-

http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/meizu

tiny, yet has a bigger screen than the ipod video, has fm radio, 20hours battery life, photo and video playback and cheaper than the same 4gb nano. theres a youtube video of it in action on that link... amazing..

the toshiba gigabeats probably the best non-ipod hard drive mp3 player, but the microsoft zune is basically the same thing greatly improved, that and theres pretty heavy rumours of the real next gen ipod dropping december or january, with a fulllsized touchscreen and wifi etc..

This is true. If you like what you bought, you recommend it, if you don't like it, you suggest other products. Then again, reviews are much the same thing... The best way to go about this is to buy every one of them, but there is probably a good quality side-by-side comparison done objectively by a magazine or perhaps some other technology oriented publication (web based or otherwise).

I bought the creative zen 30 gigs last year during boxing day. I think I paid $150. The only problem is that it is rather big in weight and size. I'm thinking about going nano, but I feel like I will be going against my beleifs :/

Can you find that Meizu is stores? It sounds like it has all the features I would want in a player...amazing

What does this have to do with him being in the market for an MP3 player?

Creative Labs. I have an older Zen Micro that has been awesome, but they've come out with tons of better stuff since then. I'd check out their stuff for sure.

One of the main reasons I don't want an iPod is my wife has one.

The main reason, however, is I do not believe in the workmanship of the product or feel it's a well-made electronical component.
