Yeah, I love the feel of a GC controller in my hands more than the Dual Shock... but you don't see too many games that use the D-Pad anymore. In Dynasty Warriors I used the D-pad for a while until I switched to the stick, I'll never use the D-Pad again as long as I can avoid it. I use it every now and again in SC3.

I guess I'd probably say I like the feel of a GC controller in my hands more than PS2 too, now that I think about it.

In the Tony Hawk games on PS2 I use the d-pad because you need to make some really precise actions and the analog stick isn't good at that.

Whatta you mean thanks for the update, I figured people would be curious as to whether you can pre-order a Wii, since it's the subject of the last 5 pages!

It still didn't say that all games with good graphics were shitty. It said developers that FOCUSED on graphics were bound to make a shitty game. This also doesn't mean all games that focus on gameplay are going to be good.

kapeesh?

Typical Gamestop bullshit, I don't know how valid it is; but an interesting read nevertheless regarding pre-ordering Nintendo Wii/PS3

"GameStop is NOT ACCEPTING cash, or store credit for your down payment on a pre-order. You HAVE to trade in games or accessories when you pre-order. It must total $50 or more, and it will all go towards your system pre-order. Any money you put down after $50 can be credit, cash, or whatever else GameStop/EB accepts. This applies for both the Wii and the PS3."

BTW, this guarantees you a Wii, but it is not specified on which date, meaning more than likely not launch day. Fuck that, I hate Gamestop/EB so much.

In addition to storing Miis on the Wii, several Miis can be stored in a user’s Wii Remote and taken to a friend’s house to play on another Wii console. Each member of the family can have his or her Wii Remote personalized with their own Mii.

Photo- This channel allows users to retrieve digital pictures from an SD memory card inserted into the Wii console and display them on their television screen. Users also can manipulate the photos in a variety of fun and creative ways, such as zooming into details or creating mosaics, puzzles or slide shows. Users can even add an MP3 tune from their SD memory card to their slide shows. It provides a fun and easy outlet for people to edit and show off their digital pictures. Also in a recent demo at the Sep.14 conference in NYC a rep said you can play videos as well

Forecast- Users can access free local weather forecasts after turning on the Wii console. When connected to the Internet, the WiiConnect24 service automatically updates local weather information.

News- Users can access the most up-to-date breaking news from around the world, organized into a variety of topical categories. When connected to the Internet, the WiiConnect24 service automatically updates this free channel.

Wii shop-This is where users go to download video game content, including classic video games originally played on the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and NEC TurboGrafx platforms. Here the users may buy Wii Points with a credit card or redeem a Wii Points Card purchased at retail to add points to their account, then redeem points to download these Virtual Console games. Users also can use points to download the Opera browser used in the Internet Channel.

Virutal Console- After users download Virtual Console games from the Wii Shop Channel, each game will appear in the Wii Channel Menu as its own Virtual Console Channel. To play the game, users simply select the game's channel.

Internet-This channel dramatically changes the relationship between a user's home, the television and the Internet. Users download the Opera browser with Wii Points. Then they can surf the Internet right from the comfort of their couch. They can do quick research while watching a television program ("What was that actor's name again?"), or book travel plans and shop during commercials. The service is compatible with Macromedia Flash and also runs AJAX software.

Wii Message Board-Forget hand-scrawled notes tacked to the refrigerator door. Users can leave messages for other family members on a calendar-based message board. They also can use WiiConnect24 to send messages to people outside the home as well. Even better, people can trade photos and text messages with cell phone users. The service also allows for incoming messages targeted at software, such as a new map or weapon for a game. Games can constantly be updated, thereby extending their playability.

Disc-This channel allows users to play either Wii game discs or any of the entire library of Nintendo GameCube discs.

I feel some are not needed but cool all the same.

I don't get the graphics backlsash, sure a game can be fun with no good graphics and solid gameplay, but a good game with awesome procution values can be fucking awesome. Graphics isn't everything, but it helps with the immersion, so does 5.1 surround sound.

I fucking hate Gamestop. First of all, this is the biggest piece of shit scam I've ever heard. Second, I once tried to reserve a game with them and the guy behind the counter said "You can't reserve that, we don't even know if it's coming to America." Then I walked out, went upstairs to EBGames and reserved a copy of it. I hate nothing more than that shithole of a video game store. They will forever be Software Etc. in my mind, and I will always hate them. They do the most horrid things in the universe, and everybody working there is an asshole. I was holding the video game I wanted to buy in my hand, walking to the counter, and this guy came out of NOWHERE and asked "Are you going to buy anything? The store's kind of closing now." I looked at my cell phone, noted there were ten minutes until the store closed, then looked at my game, and said "Yes. Yes, I am buying this game. Will you let me continue to the counter and buy it, please, or will the store be closed by the time I get there?" My girlfriend of the time thought it was cute, but I was so angry. But anyhow, that's how I got Final Fantasy IV and ChronoTrigger re-released for the PS1. Somehow they were like brand new, even though they were in the used games section. So anyway, I hate Gamestop. The people controlling Gamestop as a whole, as well as local managers, are all the largest bags of douche I have ever known in my life.

If I see anybody giving them 50 dollars worth of old video game equipment, I'm going to run into the Gamestop and take a shit on the counter. Oh how I hate them.......

I agree, and Mario Galaxy and Smash look as good as any 360 launch game; plus it takes time for devolpers to learn the system as well; I mean no way Twilight Princess could have been done at GC's launch. Give it time, the system isn't even out yet, and gamers are already bashing it as if they've played the games already. I can see a pretty big leap from GC to Wii already.

we're forgetting a main point here: launch titles usually blow and have blown for the last 10 years, at least. Aside from Nintendo launching with Mario titles, and they've pretty much given up on that from the last 2 launches. Zelda is a huge one, no doubt, but kind of a cheat, really.

It's like this: If I could have one of two games, where they are identical in every way (running performance, and responsiveness not being affected by better graphics) except one has GOOD graphics and one has horrible graphics, I'd be a fucking idiot not to pick the one with better graphics. So why make a good game less so by not spending the time to develop some good looking textures. Like Wind Waker, that game was awesome, but it's graphics looked like dogshit because they tried to make it a children's game.

I dug windwaker's look, it was different and had kind of an anime vibe going on. fluid as hell, too. very immersive.

The launch titles for the PS2 were awful, but Nintendo's usually been pretty good. Halo was a launch title, which personally was okay at best, but they spent more time making Halo than they did making the XBOX. Nintendo always releases a Mario title or two (or way more) with their systems. Nintendo knows how to do a videogame system launch pretty well by now, XBOX 360 shit the bed pretty hard, and will follow an identical path of the Dreamcast, just you watch, and Sony will have the hang of it by now. The best PS3 games won't be with launch, but that is a general rule that only applies to non-Nintendo systems.

It's better than Luigi's Mansion.

I guess you could say that, but a new Zelda is a new Zelda.

Zelda games are guaranteed sells when they make them right. Ocarina of time was guaranteed to sell millions of copies, Windwaker was stretching it, and they paid for it. Sure people bought it like crazy, but it isn't hailed as well as OoT. The new Zelda, I assure you, will be OoT rivaling in quality. As for A Link to the Past, probably three games in video game history are rivals for that beauty.

Tekken Tag Tournament was a fantastic launch game for PS2.

was Halo a launch title? I thought it was slightly behind the curve post-launch.
