exactly. and how many DS's have they sold in Japan? about 10 bajillion. I think they'd be doing better money-wise nowadays than they were just a few years ago

Thanks Zorgon. I just found this info online tonight too. I'm hoping it will support DVD9 (dual layer) so that there is more flexibility, although there are almost no DVD9 games for PS2, it'd still be nice to have the option. I'm absolutely sold on the Wii, I'm gonna go down to EB Games within the next week and pre-order Wii, Zelda, and maybe the retro controller.

Surprising that it will only be available in white, but oh well. Better than waiting a few months for additional colors with weird names like Onyx and Noble Pink.

Oh, as for DVD playback: Like most people have said, who the fuck cares? Everyone has a DVD player. If not, go grab a $50 one at any store that even plays divx.

I'm sure I'll definitely buy the Wii (god I still hate that fucking name), but probably not for awhile after it comes out. I've been a Nintendo loyalist since I got my first NES. The only system that I ever strayed for was the Sega Genesis.

I've been out of the gaming thing for quite awhile, but I'll shell out the cash for the Wii. I'm interested to see how it works. I am psyched about a new Zelda, too.

I was hoping for the $200 price tag though, not $250, especially if they're using the inclusion of that Sports game as the reason to jack up the price-- I have no interest in sports games.

I'm pleased with the price point on games, I was hoping for $60 CAD max and it looks like that'll be it.

If you're concerned with price, remember you'll need to buy an SD card too if you want to use the virtual console, and maybe that's the way you save games too, I don't know about that one. The prices on those are way down now at least. A freakin 8MB PS2 card is still $35 here though.

And you're gonna need a wireless router or wireless usb adapter too.

no, no, no. I +rep them for releasing Twilight Princesss for a dead platform, yes. (even though the game was technically made for the cube from the ground up)

My calling them nefarious is based upon this (and I say the resoning is sound): if the game is *finished*, release it for the cube on the Wii Launch Date. Why would they hold the cube release back almost a month for *no other reason* than making more money out of saps who want to play Zelda so they go out and buy a Wii in Nov.?

The only reason they're holding the "Twilight Princess" cube launch date back is so they can get more people to buy the Wii. Thats it, and that's all. Very wrong, if you ask me.

You explained why you think they've pushed back the release date, and I don't dispute your conclusion. But if you re-read your post (at any speed you like) you'll realise that you made a leap between concluding why Nintendo has set the release dates differently, and concluding that such a strategy is wrong. Hence my question.

you're lucky they are still going to give the cube a version. If they really wanted to fuck with you, they would cancel it out completely.

woax indeed, my friend.

I don't care what anyone thinks-- the Wii is going to be awesome and the day it's available my husband and I are going to race out and buy one. I'm extremely excited about the new Wii Remote, and personally, I don't care if the graphics aren't amazamazing, especially since the Wii is going to come with a whole new style of game interaction. I'm glad that they decided to ******* production of the classic controller, too, so if you just can't get the hang of it you can always take a break and kick it old school...

I don't mean to insult anyone here individually, but usually I find that people who are most willing to complain about how expensive something is are the ones who are also most willing to go out and waste money on ridiculous shit. Like eating fast food every single day, or wasting gas driving ridiculous distances for absolutely no reason, or drinking a triple blended cherry vanilla white mocha every goddamn day of their life. Usually, when people complain about the price of something, especially something as awesome as the Wii, I just don't listen.

Aussie pricing and date announced - Dec 7 - AU$399, which is even more of a rip since US$250 is about AU$330.

anyway....

pg. 3 says Zelda 4 cube doesn't hit till Dec. 11, not buying Wii at launch so must wait for cube release.

Oh, I thought maybe you were in some country that had a delay and I didn't realize it. I've been on the fence about which Zelda to get for the last few months. I've decided the Wii version has gotta be pretty awesome and I want a Wii at launch anyway so I'm going with that. Hope they're taking pre-orders already.

I like the first frame of that cartoon.

Wii has 512MB of internal flash memory to save games and VC downloads. Downloads will be tied to a VC account (a la Steam), so an SD card is pretty much optional.

Oh I had read about the internal memory months ago, but thanks for reminding me. I read that you can play movies off of SD cards. I wonder what codecs they will support. Actually it would be a useless feature, I have a divx dvd player. The idea of internal memory for saving games is awesome, GameCube or PS2 could have benefited from this.

The mini games in Mario 64 DS are better. They're almost all the same ones but the ones exclusive to 64 are better than the few exclusive to NSMB. I've spent hours on the shell curling game while watching TV.

Hey guys, I just realized I don't think the retro controller has rumble. This would be a terrible downside. I was playing Ocarina Master Quest on GC and it was so nice to have built in rumble and not the shitty N64 rumble pak. No rumble at all would suck, and be like PS3 with their retarded controller, boo! Know what I'm saying?

That reminds me, the Gamecube controller is my favorite controller to date. It's got the C-Stick, which is cool, but it loses its function in first person shooters (which the Gamecube lacks anyway, so it's not too important). The Gamecube controller makes the PS2's Dual Shock feel like a tiny old cheap piece of crap and it makes XBOX's pieces of shit look even worse. The XBOX controller seems to be crafted purely for FPS games, but as a controller, it sucks to hold... both S and "Duke" versions.

I've always thought the PSX/PS2 controller was the ultimate of controllers but recently I realized that the d-pad destroys your thumbs during Street Fighter. I am a fan of the GC controller as well but it's d-pad is kind of useless, though I have never played a Cube game that required the d-pad anyway. The Z trigger location is not that handy either but it's good enough. I have no experience with the Xbox.

One thing that's a real bitch is my DS Lite's d-pad is barely functional for diagonals. This is a common issue and I hope to get it fixed whenever I exchange my unit due to a hinge crack.
