Hives can be aggravated by stress, so it might do you good to calm down. I've had this kind of thing happen before and I never figured out what it was. Apparently a lot of people have a case of hives at least once in their lifetime and most people never figure out what caused them. As long as you can breathe, you'll be fine.

I would recommend drinking whatever alcohol you have in the house and going to bed early.

if it was a food allergy you'd probably see symptoms immediately-6hours after you ate it. my brother iwas allergic to shell fish when he was younger, and usually he would throw it up about an hour after. i'm allergic to some bar soaps (can't use ivory soap or shield), and i get really dry itchy skin in the spots i used it. no red bumps.

i'd take a benadryll if it's still this bad when you go to bed. calimine lotion never really worked when i had bug bites or poison ivy. there's some cream in a first aid kit you can get at walmart that probably works well enough if you're cheap.

I get that as well but I think that's more of a skin type issue rather than an allergy.

So good.

Incidentally, I feel you about the itching...I discovered I've a nasty allergy to a certain kind of detergent on my bedsheets recently. Itching and trying to sleep is a fate worse than death.

yeah I have something like that. I have excema but I'm sure there are other conditions that cause it. I don't get it much now because I put on lotion directly after I get out of the shower. seems to help keep my skin the happiest.

there's something disconcerting about how very pleased with himself the guy in the striped shirt is. it's in his facial expressions. that said, i'd have a hard time not being that pleased if i were doing what he's doing

I don't know. I'm no expert but maybe some kind of sarrong may be the answer. Hope this helps!

i'm not sure what you have, though i've had somthing similar?

For several years i would get a completely disgusting rash and pimple like (def not pimples) all over my hands, palms and they would spread to my feet - at its peak i would get it every month. This is pretty gross, but the bumps would fill with a clearish fluid and would pop like blisters while i was doing things with my hands. After everything popped, my skin would harden and peel away (because the skin would get excruciatingly dry). Then the cycle would continue. The bumps that weren't on my palms or bottoms of my feet would mostly just be a gross rash. It was like my hands were leaking.

Anyway, the doctor just gave me some steroid cream (which didn't do anything but dry my hands out even more), told me to stop washing my hands as often (because soap made it worse) and told me not to wear gloves since the perspiration worsened it. He suggested it was viral but who knows.

Dude, i feel your pain. It was painful and disgusting - thank god that problem went away after a few years, hopefully yours is not a virus.

yes, but about 10 times worse, with more rash. My feet never got very bad, and i never had any (thank god!) in my mouth. Also, i never got physically sick, but it would reccur (at its worst) constantly.

so i saw my primary care physician, she didn't know what was going on. went to a lab, got some blood work. went to a dermatologist (who was an ass) and they just asked a bunch of questions and basically said they didn't know what it was, but gave me a cortizone shot in my butt and then gave me a perscription for some antibiotics and a cream. they said it'll take 2 hours for this shot to kick in. i'm kind of concerned about this foot, why would one foot swell up like a balloon/

thats what sucks about skin irritations - they have maybe one or two 'remedies' for hundreds of varying skin problems. Is it as bad as it was?

"is it as bad as it was?" meaning.. has it gotten any better or not? some areas have got a little better, some are the same, and the foot is worse. getting a sore throat too..

also, what's the best, most professional word for butt-cheek? i imagine i'm going to have to mention that to the doctor, as they're unlikely to just stay on my legs, given that i wear pants which seem likely to spread these red bumps.
hey whoa whoa whoa. i have the exact same thing happening to me. it started on the back of my hands. one day i'll itch all over my arms. one day it's my legs. even my palms itch!!! ive just been using calamine lotion and taking aveeno oatmeal baths. i hope we make it through, jesse.

I actually suspected when I had hives that it might have been Ivory soap, so I haven't used it since then. The only other suspects are red ink, plums, heat and stress. I think in general heat and stress make everything worse, though.

And it happened around this time last year for me, too. I think a bunch of shitty things usually happen around this time of year. Every weird health thing I've ever had has started around late summer/early fall, and I have trouble sleeping, too. It's like there's something in the air.

Oh, also something that I found helped even before the actual reaction went away was tea tree oil lotion.

first doctor was all about the STD theory, and i assured her it wasn't that. at least i'll get an HIV test out of this. second dr. was going down the STD path as well, and im like dude, i'll bet you $1,000 it's no STD.

THEN he took this tiny little razor out and started scraping my skin, cutting the little bumps (what an asshole, he didn't even ask my permission to start slicing around). he put the matter on a slide and looked at it under a microscope and goes "well, it's not scabies". gee, thanks pal.

What the hell? I don't throw the term "Quack" around often... but come on. You can't go around scraping people for no reason and just be like "Hup, wasn't cancer!"

a looooot of allergy tests involve scraping the skin with different materials to observe a reaction.
i dont think the doc was a quack for not asking you to get a sample. he's doing his job.

i think there are some expensive detergents you can get that dont have chlorine or bleach or any additives like that. If you're swelling up though, that sounds like you got stung or bit by something. maybe the bite is on your taint and you can't see it!

aren't there specialists that deal with allergies and stuff?
