Check the amount of RAM it uses when you scroll through the new album covers browser thing.

there's a new "album artist" box for songs

gapless playback (yes!)

clicking on the album header changes the sort to "album by artist" then "album by year"

dragging and dropping album covers doesn't work anymore for multiple songs at once (you have to go into the 'get info' dialogue box for multiple songs)

Is iTunes still really sluggish in Windows? I remember the earlier versions making my old P3 box more or less inoperable. Not a great advertisement for Apple's claimed superior software development...

A company could create the best software in the world but if its for an operating system that sucks balls it wont matter... yes i think apple initially had some issues with development for windows, but now I think it runs very well, at least when I used iTunes 6.x in XP.

Performance isn't the reason people think Win 2k and XP suck balls.

You really need better than acceptable hardware to make it run smooth. I will admit that iTunes 7 now doesn't give me as slow mouse scrolls through my iPod music list like previous versions did. I previsouly HAD to drag the slider bar because it was ridiculously slow if i mouse scrolled up. Its not as quick as I'd like it to be, but I am overdue for a RAM update to 1g instead of my current 512 i guess.

I only use itunes to pass stuff for my nano, but even for that, winamp 5.24 works ok too.
So, v7 looks the same to me as it's ever been.

I LIKE it!

I just spent a long time adding the album covers that iTunes couldn't find. It looks nice.

the "album by year" sort is really cool. finally all the albums appear in proper order instead of alphabetical.

Is there a way to have all gapless album playback, instead of setting each album for gapless payback individually?

You could select every album in one go (ctrl & A on Windows), and set the gapless setting to 'Yes'.

i just noticed that my itunes plays the tracks gapless (yes, crossfade is off) regardless whether gapless is checked on the individual songs or albums. This individual setting must be for gapless playback when on the iPod. But since I have a 3G ipod that doesn't support gapless playback, this individual setting is moot.
