gay thread though. i think the only 2006 movie that i saw is the death of mr lazarescu and it wasn't that great. unless you count takeshis as being 2006, but i don't really know what to think of that.

haven't seen it yet, but from what i heard ken loach getting the golden palm this year was down to the people at cannes suddenly noticing that he's been looked over by the festival for a long time now rather than to the quality of the movie.

and, it may have been D2V but, goddamnit, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has to rank in there for something (will probably filter up at #10 on my top 10 list just for shits and giggles. Also it kicked ass). How could you people love FF7 and not include it. How, goddamnit?!

Matador and Munich were 2005 releases, but didn't go wide till 2006 so on this years list they a-go.

Why for people looking forward to Illusionist? Didn't y'all see the trailer for The Prestige? Batman, Wolverine, Tits McGee and Nolan! Now THAT looks like a fuckin movie about magicians, I'll tell you what. Screw Pig Vomit's movie.

Going to see Hollywoodland this weekend, heard mixed about it but I love a sweaty hot noir yarn.

Doesn't Black Dhalia come out the same weekend as Jackass II?

Also, does Johanson get down and show her gear in Black Dhalia? I heard there was a love scene that was "distracting". Or is it all panting and monaing and no boobie.

Sides, Hollywoodland has Superman in it. It'll be a Superman movie where he doesn't lift shit for 50% of the flick.

that sounds like a great fucking weekend

there are some brief clips in the trailer that indicate possible scar jo nudity, but knowing my luck it'll just be some side boobage like that movie where someone walks in on her while shes putting on a towel.
