Most campuses have multiple computer labs in each building (eng, edu, business etc) ... not to mention the library, which is usually open 24hrs.

are you going to tell me that having your own isn't a hell of a lot more convenient?

No, I'm going to tell you that after fucking up your parents car it's pretty selfish to go and buy yourself a computer when that money could've been spent to fix your fuckup.

You could make do without a computer for a little while and bought one later. It would've been an inconvenience, but it would've been a more mature decision to fix their car with that money rather than spending it on yourself.

not to sound like a douchebag....but that's really not necessary.

my parents were going to buy me my computer, but after the incident with the car, they told me I was on my own. and the computer ended up costing more than the car damage.

So you should pay for the car and the computer.

i don't understand what you expect eulogy to do here. his parents make a lot of money so this shit wouldn't be a problem. this is why they became rich. im assuming he's without a car now and he's no longer on their insurance?

Well so was your original flawed logic - is there no guilt there at all, no feeling morally obligated to fix what you did wrong?

BTW, congrats on the LapCook. Is this the computer you're having the network issue with, what kind of network, was it working previously with a different computer, is there any sort of security set up on said network?

Um, it was an accident. It was a mistake. Unintentional. His parents have the ability to avoid things like this from affecting them. they don't have a right to do that i guess?

there is guilt. i felt awful for the entire week after it happened. i feel obligated to fix it, but here's the thing, i really can't. i mean i could, but my parents would not have let me not get a computer in order to fix their car.

the network always has problems. i think the router is faulty. i dunno.

Alright. I'll pay that, I guess. But even so... if it were someone else's car, then who would pay?

did you at least maybe think of getting a cheaper laptop and give them the money that was left over?

I mean if you KNEW that they wouldn have let you not get a computer then the nice gesture would have been to try very hard to give them the money even though you knew they wouldnt take it. shit if you would have given them that money they probably would have bought you a laptop later anyway, but it's the gesture that counts. you are just skipping that step becuase you know what their response would be so it would all work out the same in the end--but i really really dont think you should get into the habit of handling situations that way.

meanwhile eulogy's parents are thinking, "that little shit... he went and bought himself an expensive computer and didn't even think to offer us any money for the car damage..."

yeah and you guys KNOW that if this happened to eulogy in some similar situation (although I cant be bothered to think of one right now) then he would have been here bitching that the other party bought an expensive computer and not offered him any money.

to detract from the Eulogy bashing... but many campuses are actually initiating Laptop programs where students are required to have their own laptop (and software if need be) because its too costly for most schools to keep computer labs up to date. so i do support him with the notion that its fairly necessary to have your own.

I don't think anyone's disputing the fact that having a computer is necessary.

He's Just an inconsiderate, selfish, spoon-fed little know-it-all brat with no idea what its like to be responsible. I can't wait for the slap in the face real life will bring him.
