Default Black Holes and Revelations

Well, about what I expected. I'd say it's kind of like the paris hilton sex tape... you know it sucks and you can't really figure out why they made it... but you still have to give it a try. SOrt of like some weird smash up or ace of base and new order mixed with absolution. I don't know, I'd imagine it'll find it's way into my cd player once every couple of months as a guilty pleasure. The horns in the last 2 songs are pretty dreadful though.

I disagree. The horns add a nice touch. The album is not as good as absolution or origins of symmetry, but I would put it on par with showbiz.
p.s. I have never seen and have no desire to see the paris hilton sex tape.

i thought showbiz was the best album.... but citizen erased has to be the best song!

I wasnt impressed at all by this album, i think there was one good song on it towards the end, but in all... nah. The album just sort of drifts by without anything sticking.

I'm pretty sure I agree with this statement.

I was pissed that there were no Showbiz songs played when I saw them. I mean, three albums...at least give me Sunburn or something.

Origin of Symmetry is the most solid album, Showbiz had far too many throwaway songs that couldn't even match up to the b-sides released around them (Fillip for example, pales in comparison with practically any Showbiz b-side).

I'll be hearing BH&H this Friday, finally. It's already much better than Absolution, I'm sure.

I'd have to agree that origin blows all of their other stuff away... i mean, new born? bliss? plug in baby? way too good. when i saw them all of that stuff rocked much harder than anything off of absolution or showbiz... except muscle museum did alright. The new album is kind of one of those where you listen to it but nothing grabs you as I can't stop listening to it but still can't figure out how I feel about it. I do really like the first song though, although the drumming is a bit pompous. Second song is a little too pop for Muse. All in all, I'm not disappointed nor ecstatic over it.

You did not just say that.

I love Filip. And what other songs do you consider throwaways? maybe Unintended. that's the only one I can think of. and even that's pretty nice.

And I'm loving the new one. Starlight really caught my attention on the first listen.

the new album is really a grower, and im really loving it considering i liked it on first listen anyways.

i still think soldier's poem is my favorite track, its a lot of fun to play just bas and guitar and two people singing vocals.

showbiz is solid, but absolution and origin of symmetry are both better in my opinion. its hard to pick between the latter two. showbiz prolly has my favorite closer of the three in hate this and ill love you along with one of muse's best tracks, sunburn.

I'm not saying Fillip is bad, but it should have been left as a b-side. I'd also be happy to exchange Overdue, Falling Down and Unintended for one of the later recorded songs like Recess, Host or Ashamed. Supposedly the album deal was made before they had enough songs for it, so they hastily wrote a few more on the spot. That story makes a lot of sense as Showbiz is a very uneven album.

As for Black Holes, I picked it up today, can't wait to give it a spin. A work colleage played Exo-politics for me and I was a little disappointed that they funkied up the chorus and shortened the song, but oh well.

Muse are the worst thing ever. If I wanted to listen to something that bad i'd gouge my own eyes out.

I guess the sound of his own voice writhing in torment as he gouges his own eyes holds greater appeal to him than the songs of Muse. Which for shame, is rather extreme. My reccomendation is that he be institutionalized immediately. The money he recieves through putting his eyes on the black market can fund his incarceration.

they were absolutely amazing live. we got the setlist and got it signed by them too, as well as the opening band. great light show, and matt, chris, and dom are so talented.

city of delusion was kickass, but matt held back on the i will aveeeeeenge part and went to falsetto, kinda sucked. but he didnt hold back during any other part of the show, they're all really friendly too, especially chris.

well he did do that vocal thing. but the song still rocked.

That show was fantastic. Wow. What a great live act. Take A Bow is about 300x better live. And they played Sunburn! But no Assassin, which was disappointing.

yeah, for our show they pretty much played their LA set list except replaced sunburn with assassin.

i definitely wouldve preferred sunburn, that was the only thing missing from my show. they're a great live act indeed, the 3 of them are just so great at their instruments.
