Default Is there a For Martha demo with vocals?

I'm wondering if there is a version of For Martha that is quiet, like the Adore Demos version, but has lyrics? If so, where could I get it?

unless you consider wishing you were and for martha to be the same song. some people do.

the instrumental wishing you were on mcis demos II reminds many people of for martha.

yes, they recycled the riff. that doesn't make them the same song, as they're otherwise dissimilar. Wishing You Were is a song in its own right.

it would be fun to think of The Aeroplane Flies High and For Martha as the same song, though. via the transitive property.

Well yeah, basically what I'm wondering if it exists, is a version of For Martha, without the "Wishing You Were" section (which, is totally different from Wishing You Were on MCIS Demos I, and SPFC lists the one on II as "The Other Side"?). Or, like the Adore Demos version of For Martha, with vocals.

But if it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist

"The Other Side" was the label given to the instrumental For Martha on the Adore Demos. SPFC lists the one on MCIS Demos II as For Martha, which is wrong in my opinion.

didn't Ryan Patrick used to work there? and he was like the original guy setting people straight on that issue. fuckin' SPFC. anyway.

Hhhm. Yeah, well i mean it's obviously For Martha, but when did Billys mum die?

And what the hell does the "Wishing You Were" on Demos I have anything to do with any of the other songs in this thread, apart from name? Sounds totally different, even the chord changes are different.

pardon my ignorance, but i have just become aware that people had been comparing For Martha and Wishing You Were long before the full-band Wishing You Were demo surfaced. i personally have yet to pick up on any similarities other than the riff, but i am willing to consider that i may in fact be a dolt. so i withdraw some of my previous statements and declare myself officially on the fence.

Are you quite sure?

The one on I is piano and vox, and sounds nothing like the one on II, nor like The Other Side, nor like For Martha.

EDIT:

Wait.

I'm very confused.

People were comparing... the Piano + Vox one, to the Adore version of For Martha? Before the "But for the grace of love" full band thing showed up?

i am quite sure that the piano and vox "Wishing You Were" on MCIS Demos I is the same song with the same chord changes and structure as the full-band instrumental on MCIS Demos II.

and yes, for example, here is the first of many occasions that For Martha was compared to Wishing You Were on AMSP.

And that's before people had heard the Demos II version?

I mean, I'm not arguing that they're NOT the same song... my argument is instead that I don't hear the connection, I don't hear any similarity - unlike other songs like Ugly, where all versions are obviously that song... or things like Blue Skies Bring Tears, with all the different versions... or all the different versions of Bullet... etc... with those, I can tell it's in essence the same song... but with Wishing You Were -> Wishing You Were II -> The Other Side -> For Martha, I don't hear the link between the two "Wishing You Were"s.

the comparisons were immediate upon Adore's release; in fact, that one's from a week before it came out. MCIS Demos II didn't surface until 2000.

MCIS Demos I: Wishing You Were
MCIS Demos II: Wishing You Were (sometimes mistitled as For Martha)
Adore Demos: For Martha (aka The Other Side)
Adore: For Martha

right?
