Default Harper affirms Cdn position on Armenian Genocide 2

http://www.canada.com/globaltv/natio...9-55198d792e40

so apparently the CAN companies are now shut out of the competition for participation in building some new nuclear reactors in Turkey thanks to Harper.

does it serve any good to make gestures like that? I mean it's obvious it was a genocide, but what does it help us these days?

It happened almost a century ago, and yet I think Canada is ok with doing business with Germany?

Canadians would trade with whomever they could. The difference is the approach of German and Turkish governments. It's not Harper who's telling Canadian companies not to trade with Turkey, it's Turkey who are eliminating CAN companies from the competition because of what Harper said.

Anyways, Canadian politics topics do not fly on this board. I tried. Thanks for the participation, Nimrod.

PS - I really would like to know what our CAN Netphorians think about the Caledonia incident.

Default Turkey and Caledonia

I think its fine to admit there was a genocide. I gather most people here would not accept the notion that the holocaust never existed either. Big deal we lose out on a couple nuclear reactor contracts we may or may not have won, besides China's wants to buy a bunch from us anyways....we'll be fine.

On the Caledonia incident, I live 15 minutes from there and i think its stupid and they should end the damn illegal occupation because a judge in court said it was illegal and the land being built for new homeowners is legally the builders. People are going bankrupt cause of the natives pointless actions of comradery which they don't even understand why they're even there...just listen to some of the things they say on T.V its soo ridiculous. The sooner the police rush them the better!! Also if the government sits back and doesn't stand up because they're a bunch of bleeding hearts will mean nobody's property is safe from native claims and this will only set a precedent. there! i said my part.

thanks. I agree - sooner they raid them the better. Laws of this country apply to Indians, too. I am just curious - it looks like everybody agrees with what Trainer said about them but everyone is scared to acknowledge it in order not to be labelled as a 'racist'.
