Default Black Sabbath

i've always known that Billy was really influenced by Sabbath, but i was listening to War Pigs today, and made a connection that i hadnt made until now. one of the guitar parts that Tony plays in the song (e.g. 2:24-2:45) is almost identical to the riff from Tribute to Johnny.

To be honest, I first read your "2:24-2:45" as '2:44-2:45' and so I skipped the track to around 2:30, and as I was waiting for 2:44 I was thinking, 'geez, this already sounds like tribute to johnny, almost.'
so yeah, definitely maybe.

No. It's not a good point

"We have a Johnny Winter tribute song that we're going to record for the next album. It sounds like Rick Derringer-era Johnny Winter, like the 'Rock'n'Roll Hootchie Koo' days... when i watched the Bob Dylan tribute, the only part that smoked me was when Johnny came out and did 'Highway 61'. Even James Iha, who couldn't give two shits about Johnny Winter, had his mouth hanging open." -BC

"Our tribute to Johnny Winter, circa 1974; a true original, and one of my favorite guitarists." -BC (Guitar World 1/97)

Ya, it's Johnny Winter, the albino brother of Edgar Winter of the legendary Edgar Winter Group.
