Default itt we discuss Unwound

Such an awesome band. Repetition is great, so is challenge for a civilised society. But leaves turn inside you is simply stunning. Easily in my favorite album top 10. With Look a ghost and Demons sing lovesongs as absolute standout tracks.

I'll have to look into this, but I'll probably get to the Galapagos islands before I listen to it!

I'm not researching shit, bitch! I'm just going to have a kickass time and take pictures.. but it'd probably be at least 2 years 'til I go, and by then, dictator bush might have already destroyed the islands.

sorry to have derailed your thread!

yeah i downloaded LTIY because it was #1 in your favourite album list. it took some time to grow on me, but it kept on growing! it's a fantastic record.

New Plastic Ideas is very good too. all their records take some time to grow on me.

will they ever release a follow-up to Leaves? what are they doing now?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to FearFactory again.

It's been described as a cross between Sonic Youth and Fugazi. Basically it's pretty abrasive guitarrock, especially their earlier stuff

Leaves Turn Inside You is definitely somewhere in my top 10 all-time favourite albums ever. I love every minute of it. Their discography is wonderful too.

I think they sound like a very good band that, inexplicably, refuses to embrace the virtues of either practice or production.

i heard justin had a kid or something, but i forgot the source. i know for sure they did break up, but they never ruled out the possibility of reuniting. but that other one is obviously a different band. sara isn't that chunky, vern isn't that skinny, and justin never had facial hair. and they don't have a fourth member, unless brandt makes some illustrious return or steve fisk joins.

i should add that i think repetition is actually one of my least favorite albums of theirs. new plastic ideas is for sure the best of their early stuff, and i really love challenge for a civilized society. they have some neat seven inches, too. i like that cover of flower's "torch song" on the split with versus.

edit: also, for all things unwound, http://unwound.livid.com used to be the place to go. it's since been taken down or something, but the archive for it is here: http://web.archive.org/web/200307031...com/index.html

i found leaves turn inside you to be pretty boring with the exception of demons sing love songs, look a ghost, and terminus. but then again, i didn't listen to it much.
