Default Zelda: Twilight Princess delayed. Again.

Dunno if y'all missed this, but its going from April 06 to fall 06. Well, that's about a solid year past its original date. I hope this just wasn't so Nintendo would have a Q4 release and something to show off at E-3. Though they seem to be hinting at an added Revoultion capability as well. Hmph.

During an interview with veteran game journalist Geoff Keighley on the most recent episode of Spike TV's new "Game Head" video game program, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Marketing, Reggie Fils-Aime, let slip some rather unfortunate news concerning their upcoming flagship title, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

You already know what I'm about to say, so I'll just go ahead with it: Twilight Princess has been delayed again, this time to fall of 2006. Fils-Aime was apparently very candid about this fact as well, not offering any apologies or reasons as to why Nintendo keeps delaying what is arguably the number one most anticipated game of the year for many gamers.

Fils-Aime also addressed some of the rumors concerning Twilight Princess that have been running rampant lately, such as Nintendo holding the game back on purpose to launch it on the Revolution instead.

"It's coming out in the fall, it's coming out on GameCube," said Fils-Aime. "There's been a lot of speculation. People have been saying that we're holding it back or that it's gonna be launched just on Revolution. Tell your people 'Not true,' it's gonna be out on GameCube, it's gonna be out in the fall."

Keighley also took this opportunity to address another rumor going around, asking Fils-Aime about whether or not Twilight Princess would have Revolution-only special features (such as a special control scheme) available only to those who played the game on Nintendo's upcoming console. Fils-Aime, of course, played coy. "It's a great idea," he said. "You should talk to Shigeru Miyamoto about it. But right now the focus is on GameCube."

Is Reggie telling the truth, or does he know something he's not telling us about? Who can say - but all that really matters is that none of us are going to find out until sometime this Fall now. Let's hope the game doesn't suffer any more delays...

Update - It's worth adding that Reggie made some intriguing comments regarding Twilight Princess and the Revolution controller in the latest EGM:

"The trick will be what makes it special on Revolution, and to the extent that we could create something like that, boy, wouldn't that be fantastic? Certainly one of the things that I would love is something that makes Zelda, when it's played on Revolution, do something magical. And I think that any Nintendo fan would love that."

Take from that what you will, but it sure seems like Reggie's hinting at something there.

nintendo has been pulling this shit for a decade now. they really, really need to learn to release their games on time. if the revolution sees such a dearth of titles like the n64 and GC did then they can pretty much call it a day as console developers, unless they have enough funds to bite the bullet again

i've been a nintendo girl for like, ever.. but this shit is just not worth it. princess will probably be the last game i buy, since i'm not getting a revolution unless it comes out with a slew of good shit.

i just can't be faithful to someone who lets me down all the time

im a nintendo fanatic myself who's pretty fed up with their home consoles

i'm going to take a chance and buy the revolution because it seems to be more of a 'pick-up-and-play' sort of deal, with simple things like tetris, where you can sit down for thirty minutes and have your fix. now that i'm going to school and i have a job i dont have time to play these epics like final fantasy XXXVII or whatever

and i dunno. i have a feeling this system is actually going to be cool and unique and people will buy it, but like i said i'm worried about then repeating past mistakes with this one

I love Nintendo. I'll be buying a Revolution and Twilight Princess... but I'm not a huge hardcore gamer. Hell, I don't even have a GameCube- so I can't really be let down since I'm so lazy. heh.

gamecube had some of the greatest games ever made, and it got quite a few exclusive third-party titles but overall the system support is just too weak. i mean, other than zelda what do players have to whet their appetites, mario baseball? compare it to the ps2, which is in its twilight years and still has a slew of amazing titles on the way

ok, as i continue to think about it, i am coming up with more games (mario sunshine, animal crossing.. etc)..

but when i compare that list and the list of what i still want (princess..)
to the list for ps2 and what i still want, and the damn variety and mnumbers that ps2 has over Nintendo right now.. it's just...
i'm a traitor. bloody traitor. but they forced me into this.

the zelda franchise was never considered a dark mature franchise anyhow. check out the nes and super nes ones ... they all have cartoony character design

and the wind waker was truely an amazing game. its one of the only few games i'm satisfied with the hours of my life i wasted on it

I think WindWaker is in my top 3 for Zelda games....

1. Ocarina of Time
2. Link to the Past
3. Wind Waker

The game cube is great, they've released a lot of great games for it

Metroid Prime, Starfox Adventures (was hella fun), Resident Evil 4, Animal Crossing, Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros Melee.... but yeah I'm a die hard nintendo fan, have been for 20 years, however I do own more games for the PS2 than the Cube

if anyone here is hankering for some puzzle / action stuff in lieu of Zelda's delay, I highly, HIGHLY recomend that you go out and pick up any of the "Prince of Perisa" games. Its like 3 games full of castle levels. Kind of. So very awesome, and worthy of tiding you over. (and, if you're not hardcore about it, they take a lonnggg time to go through ... Warrior Within being the hardest)

no, but I was willing to forgive it back then. now I demand a more realistic Legend of Zelda game like I and so many others were teased with.

I'll wait until E3 before deciding what to do with the next systems, but if delaying Zelda makes it better, then delay it. Wind Waker was awesome, but it could have used less sailing and 2-3 more dungeons instead.
