Seriously, all you need to do if you want to get involved is to pick a line of the song, and record it. Sing along with the backing track to get the vocal melody, or if you don't actually want to sing you could still deliver the line. Get drunk and sing it over the top, or read it out like beat poetry. I know it's not as easy as having the finished song there waiting for your contribution, but it's not too bad.

What I might do, if we get enough musical contributions early on, is mix a version with more of the music in there, and let people use that as a guide. You can still claim parts of the song and get ideas though, yeah?

I've put your parts in to test things, thanks!

Also, if anyone's having audio problems have a look at that 3rd post about recording issues, and see if you're getting clipping. Earphones aren't a replacement for a good mic, but I've recorded live band practices with them and they're definitely listenable.

You want to pick the parts you want to do john? It just helps me a bit to fill in that list, and it's encouraging!

Also this is not a competition, so don't worry

would my tambourine sound decent as the jingly jangly bells in the b ackground maybe? really i think it's the only relevant thing that i could contribute. unfortunately i am unable to record tonight because i don't think that my downstairs neighbors would appreciate the jingly jangliness this time of evening. but i can record it first thing in the morning.
