Apparently only 30,000 have signed up so far. You can get up to $20 depending on the amount of people who sign up. If the total amount of people gets to 8.8 million, then no one gets any money- it all goes to charities.

All you have to do is answer five questions (three questions, sir), and fill out your address and you're in line to receive a check:

1. Have you bought a CD/Cassette recording?

2. Was it from a retailer?

3. Was it between 1995 and 2000?

I'm a little disappointed it's only 20 bucks max, especially since I've purchased over 500 CDs in that time, but at least it's something.

Well... since they can't actually prove that anyone bought a CD from a retailer between those years for every person, they have to limit it to a smaller amount.

I'd be happy if they gave us coupon books for 50% off CDs and free CDs and whatnot.

That's such a good idea that I'm sure no one involved with the settlement thought of it. They're all concerned with getting a dollar amount.
