this thread was going to be pretty brilliant but I'm not going to bother typing it all out again.

Suffice to say I compared Roxy Music to chipotles. I'm being serious here.

I demand this series of thought to be published. Roxy Music seriously doesn't get enough recognition. I don't think I've ever run into a serious Roxy fan under 30.

I downloaded the greatest hits. I realized that I had heard Avalon and More Than This and Jealous Guy several times before but I just didn't know who it was.

And then I had an experience eating some grilled vegetables with Chipotle when I was very young but didn't realize what I was tasting. And then a few years ago I was making a chili recipie with chipotles and I suddenly realized I had liked chipotles all along.

It was written a lot better than that but I don't feel like writing it all out now.

Those songs are good, but the killer stuff is at the end of that chronologically backwards compilation.

haha yeah, I've always considered Roxy Music a "Mature Band". People under the age of 30 are too stupid to understand them. Though i've been into them since i was 17.

C'mon, Brian Eno originated from this band also!

Thankfully for me, my father listened to decent music. I was brought up on their likes.

Man I love Roxy Music. I first heard virginia plain when I was about 16 or 17 but then I didn't get into them fully until last summer. When I was younger, my sister had a brian ferry/roxy music compilation tape and last summer I found it in her old room because she moved out. To say the least I was blown away. It was just complete astonishment almost. I have that cd with the older songs at the end of it as well as country life. and I really like them now they are so classy and innovative. such a good group.

Equal parts class and experimentation...well, for the first five albums, then experimentation took the backseat to class, but still held on to substance. Without a doubt my favorite band. Country Life never leaves my CD rotation for long. And Stranded, too. What a underappreciated album! Mother Of Pearl is where it's at.
