Default Shit guys, this is my last night of summer.

Tomorrow I have to do my summer homework and then on Monday it's back to school.

Today was a pretty good last day to relax though. Went out to this local bands thing held in a field by a church. Took my girlfriend. It was a cool day, the coming of fall I guess. It was kind of out in the countryside (not really, but getting there. Lots of trees and fields). It was pretty out there. It started to rain and my girlfriend and I wound up lying in the grass staring at the sky, getting wet, listening to punk rock music. Pretty fun.

Anyway, I can't fucking believe summer is over. Autumn is enjoyable but this summer has just seemed so unbelievably short. It feels like late June at most. Ugggggh.

I'm sorry to ask this, but I don't know you: Are you in high school or college? If college, where do you go? And what year are you in? Thanks.

No, it's okay. You seemed the college type, so you know. I didn't want to offend or anything. I'm supposed to leave for college soon, first year, but I'm having serious doubts. I'll be the first kid to drop out before he gets in.

I know the first week of school always sucks the most ass. Just don't study too hard, because you won't get into Harvard, (Sorry, I don't know - but probably) and a State University is really just as good as long as your girlfriend goes there too.

And junior year is the best, imho.

Really? I've always heard junior year is the hardest.

Also, I'm not even sure I'm going to college. I certainly don't want to. I would really rather hold down a shitty job during the day and play my music at night. I only have to support myself. My girlfriend is pretty well off, so I don't have to worry about her going hungry. If I do go, I'm going to community college just for two years.

your last night of summer? there's got to be something you can drink to give you the energy to make this night last as long as possible. like... a drink that will give you energy somehow.

I think junior year is hardest, but next year you've got to deal with half the people you know leaving for college. That's no fun. Good luck in school, I hope it's better than expected. If you wanna talk I'm still here. It hasn't been an easy day for me either.

Say, have you ever read Aaron Cometbus? I bought one of his short-story zines at a record store. Your first post reminds me of him.

hahahahahaha.

ill let someone else comment on lying down in the grass listening to punk rock!!! probably lucky day spa.

for me sophomore year was the hardest year, but it had more to do with things aorund me that distracted me. freshman and junior year were my favorite high school years.

Going to a certain school or not going to a certain school because of a significant other is the stupidest fucking thing you could ever possibly do. The vast majority of high school relationships do not last. However, if you want to wake up one day and realize that you threw your life away for dumb ass high school love, be my guest. Everyone I know who made the mistake of following their SO wound up breaking with them within a year.

High school love which ends in a break-up within a year doesn't count as a sacrafice. It is pure stupidity.

And sacrafices when it comes to love are way overrated. There is no point in throwing away everything you are and everything you want to be with the person you love. You will only wind up miserable and hating each other.

they havent broken up.

if you think the college that you attend defines who you are as a person, i think you are mistaken.

Doesn't mean they won't.

And the two comments were not necessarily related to each other or the matter at hand.

But, actually, yes, college plays a big part in defining who you are. If you live at home and go to college, you'll probably turn out different than if you went to college thousands of miles away from home. And each college offers different majors, so, obviously, that can affect who you are. And so on and so on and so on.

yes, i agree that any endeavor that a person partakes of will affect their development.

but i think it is impossible to say one specific route is better than another.
