You know what happened in '96. How the fuck they blew a 6 run lead and a 2-1 series advantage.. now that's some shit luck. Remember, they got there after being down 3-1 to the Cardinals before pouncing back and kicking the holy crap out of them for two games and sealing it off with a 4-0 Greg Maddux masterpiece. They had a nice winning streak but they couldn't hang onto it. It's just like in the regular season, but you're playing against the cream of the crop.

It's too bad they've almost certainly lost Hampton this year, but a pitching rotation of Smoltz, Hudson, Ramirez and Sosa should do well. Thompson's career is over. If Furcal and Giles keep setting the tables, that bodes well for the 3-4-5 of Chipper, Andruw and Francouer. Adam LoRoche is.. well, he's 2nd on the team in homers now but I wouldn't be surprised if Francouer were to pass him. Kelly Johnson is playing left, and I'm okay with that. Estrada catching - he's not been doing as well this year as last, but he can do good enough.

The big problem is going to be the bullpen. It looks like Farnsworth may be being groomed for the closer's role, but I'm a bit concerned about the setup men. Kolb should be left off the playoff roster. Reitsma was doing better as a setup man, but I swear everytime I saw him pitch last year, he was giving up key hits. He was last year's Ray King.

I'm worried about Joey Devine, having given up a couple of grand slams already... hopefully he can settle down and provide some middle-inning relief. I really wish the Braves would have picked up LaTroy Hawkins when he was available.
