how can you know that there will not be broken glass, rusty nails, or other sharp metal in your yard? how about animal feces? how about the mower potentially kicking rocks or sticks or other debris at your feet? these are all very real dangers man. i used to do landscaping and i wore steel toed boots even in the summer. also, you can have a pair of mowing socks or soemthing, maybe even black ones

yeah.

i guess i shouldnt tell you that the lawnmower we have has an attachment that allows the cut grass to be spewed to the side, but that i normally dont attach it and so every so often i have to reach in the back and remove the grass manually, and i keep the lawnmower running.

what the FUCK is the matter with you dude!!!!! you actually allow the blade to continue spinning while doing that? not only are you at risk for cutting your god damn hand off, anything, and i mean ANYTHIGN that gets picked up by the blade is likely to come shooting out at your face. this is unheard of carelessness. im not being dramatic, i'm seriously peeved and concerned.

i'm going to take a wild guess and assume you don't wear protectice eyewear either.

i feel really uncomfortable just wearing sandals, so i usually do shoes and socks even though it ruins both of them.

This is one of the best side of living in the city, in an appartment building, no fucking lawn to mow. But when I did live with my parents and had to mow the lawn, I've never done it barefoot.

i once mowed my dads lawn in chucks, fishnets and a skirt because my stepmom was too helpless to do it. the whole neighbourhood was watching in bewilderment.

No way man. My feet would itch like crazy if I didn't wear shoes.

On a side note, I also must wear long pants and a t-shirt or I itch like crazy for two days. It's really hot, but it's worth it.
