Funny...I was never under the impression that Red Dwarf was ever any good at any point in time.

It was! Some of the earlier series (3 4 and 6 I think) were incredibly funny. The first time I watched Back to Reality I nearly died from laughing so much. I was lietrally ROFLing and I couldn't breath properly because of it. Unless you are talking about the US remake series of it in which case it wasn't funny..

The only episodes I've seen are the ones they show here and there on public TV on Saturday nights. It's definitely the British show, and I've decided I'd rather spend my Saturday nights scrubbing toilets at some god-forsaken highway rest stop than submit myself to the torture that is the series Red Dwarf.

we were discussing this at dinner my sister said they had some e true hollywood sotry about how polanski should be allowed in the country or something (why was he exiled in the first place someone tell me is it related to : ---

my dad said "WELL HE DRUGGED UP A 12-YEAR OLD GIRL AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER JESUS CHRIST"

Symphony of Survival
'The Pianist': A Spirit the Nazis Couldn't Kill

Who represents civilization more profoundly than the pianist? The instrument he plays is a contraption of intricate delicacy and strength, beautifully conceived, beautifully executed; the music he plays on it has been imagined by the most bountiful geniuses the species has created; and the skill and discipline he brings to it are a weird alchemy of superb athleticism, driving talent and will of iron. All these bespeak man at his noblest, his best, his most creative.

**

i just really liked that description of the piano it's so true pianoforte *sigh* there is nothing like the vibration of a string i am telling you. whether it's violin, cello, or piano. there is nothing like it. those stupid wind instruments maybe it's powerful that the music comes from human breath but peh. WOOD. omar reminded me that wood is my element (i think they do that by day of birth but if orget) that is true. i absolutely adore wood.

he did. That's why my own father refuses to see any Polanski film. The man is evil.

this boy i went to high school with, he was so wonderfully cool. he was a year below me i ngrade but i think 2 years below me in age. he was soo cool. he was a russian. shit a russian. and he spoke french beeautifully he was just so smart like that. andhe loooved literature and he was soo good at math and pretty good at science (although one time in chemistry i got a 100 on a test and he only got a 99. he was all "shit" cuz he is always telling me how stupid i am. soo mean. in chemistry i kept fukcing up with the labs and i'd go "oh no!" and he'd go "you are so fucking stupid "

anyways he played the piano too. a fucking virtuoso but last time i checked he sort of lost his spirit he says he's been doing competitions and hasn't been winning and it's sort of made him feel..whatever the word is. so sad. he could easily go to giuliard i'm sure. and he could go ANYWHERE. even oxford i bet. and just ugggh. that's what i said to him but he says he's gonna go to uva or some shit i wish he would go to my school my school isn't good enough for him but i misss him even and he like. oh. one time when we went to an old folks home he played this prokofiev piece and it was amazing. that's all. he was really cool.

well that sucks. it's not gonna prevent me from appreciating him as an artist, like most artists are pretty not nice people you know, and most saints are socially inept (mother theresa was incapable of being happy wasn't there some book or article written about the miserable existence of saints?)

anwyays. but that is fucked up my sister says they had the girl who he uhh assaulted on the e! true hollywood story and she didn't seem "too upset" or some shit. is that why he was exiled from the country? wtf?

that's why he moved to France, yes. Give the victim a break. It happened over 20 years ago and her public front may be the total antithesis of her private one.

Ronnie Dobbs is actually my least favorite recurring character from the show, but, hey it's got Odenkirk and Cross.

Unhappy

it's kinda hard not to feel sorry for polanski though you know? he had such shitty luck or whatever.

and the pedophilia, it's odd and symbolic. like salinger too. they both probably were just horribly disenchanted with the world and wanted to to love what was left of purity and innocence or whatever. like the salinger story "for esme: with love and squalor" damn i love that story.

Bruce Almighty
When Harry Met Lloyd (Dumb and Dumber sequel)
Return of the King
Matrix sequels
Superhero movies (even though I think Daredevil has potential to suck, as well as the up and coming Superman movie)

I don't think anyone here likes Jim Carrey, but Bruce Almighty DOES look rather humerous.. at least he's not making shitty serious movies anymore.
