I think I like the second half more because it sounds less like other Radiohead albums to me

I think they're at their most serene and ambient on this record.
I like it but they need to change direction, maybe go back to roots? |

I like all the beats, the softer stuff not so much. Codex is pretty though.

it's just wrong to prefer them? i find it usually just happens. Funeral, Illmatic, there were a couple other classics I noticed were about 10 songs long. Doolittle is like 13 but some of those songs are 2 mins so it's about the same length. Most of the albums I think are awesome also just happen to clock in around 45-50 mins

you know and then long albums like SD and Aquemini i still like but i can think of at least one song on both records i'd cut.
In fact, if SD ended at Mayonnaise it would be perfect. Not that the other songs aren't enjoyable but they seem more like b-sides and noodling than concentrated excellence. |

Oooh interesting. It might lose the 'epic' journey feel, and I do like some of those songs, but there's a definite quality drop after Mayo. Maybe throw in a "Hello Kitty Kat" to round it out

oh shit slide that bitch right in there after geek so then after THAT mindfuckingly loud song you just amp it up.
Though you could go all Woods style and lead with Hello Kitty Kat. Blow your eardrums out at the first track, fuck yeah! |

which is fine
it means to me that i like music in smaller digestable chunks. Lot of times I listen to halves of long albums. |

yeah, it's much subtler. in rainbows had songs that pissed me off (bodysnatchers) and songs that were immediate bags of win (arpeggi, jigsaw falling into place); this has neither. certainly some very pretty moments though. i've listened to it three times and it's definitely growing on me

i think this is better than in rainbows (not taking into account what i think was meant to be b-sides on that second disc? i dunno i don't pay close enough attention).
jigsaw is probably better than anything on this one. but i think king of limbs just jells better and knows when to stop. there are a couple momentum-killers on in rainbows, imo. but, i still don't think they'll ever put out anything that i will like as much as the bends/okc/kid a. but that would be asking a lot, i think. |

...and now that i think about it a little more, little by little might be as good as jigsaw.
not sure how this song isn't getting everyone's pants wet. |
