Likes: I specifically like loud riffy music that "rocks". i don't really know how to explain it but maybe whoever pulls me will get it.
Dislikes: The only thing i don't really want on mine is Rap, Pop-Country, or anything irritatingly unusual. But if you had to put them on there i'd deal with it. Oh yeah, and no pumpkins or nirvana |

hardcore is right; i want whatever the person making it wants to put on it - the more weird and melodic it is, the better.

Im game, but I won't tailor it for someone based on what I've seen of their taste. I think a doorstep into the world of the mix creator musically is the whole point. Is that your intention PBE?

My intention was to make a mix exchange. Like AndySlash said, you can make whatever kind of mix you want but I don't think there is anything wrong with providing some kind of information for the person making your mix. Since people are not assigned to anybody yet, somebody could make a mix of artists that are similar to what their partner likes or just say fuck it and put whatever they want on there. I'm not saying you have to do either but I thought some ideas might be helpful to some people.

I was asking PBE because it was her/his idea originally and If he/she calls a certain theme then that's all good. I guess the fact that there is multiple ideas about how this can go suggests a collision of interest. If we are all happy to do our own thing and accept something potentially random and not indicative of our tastes then that's cool.

Yeah, it can be whatever. I mean, if people want to suggest a theme feel free to but I just sort of wanted to listen to some new music. We can hash things out until the end of the week and then I will pair people up.
Also, is two weeks enough for everybody after being paired up? I haven't reallt heard anything either way about that. |

im down with new music like matt said, but to give an idea of what to look for.. recently ive been listening to the roots a lot so some id be down with some hip-hop with live instruments, but im still more of a rock guy. my favorite bands ******* nirvana, radiohead, zeppelin, sparklehorse, blonde redhead, and the fiery furnaces. so generally catchy and fast.

So, do any of you want a theme or do you just basically wanted to be assigned who to make the mix for already?

Ok so no theme, in digital format (no mailing) and should be eighty minutes or less so as to fit on a disc? Anybody who has signed up disagree with that and want to drop out? Please let me know if there are any issues. Otherwise, I will assign everyone somebody to make a mix for sometime this weekend. How about May 1st for a due date for the mix? It's more than two weeks but seemed like a date most people would remember.

i like the idea of at least trying to tailor the mix to someone's tastes. may 1st is fine for me. like: i like stuff that's at least pushing the envelope in some way, though not any way in particular. a certain pop sensibility is important to me though. i like to be able to actually enjoy what i'm listening to. dislikes: rap. modern country, a good old country song i have no problem with. i tend to gravitate away from instrumentals, but that's not to say i can't enjoy them. once again, this sounds like a lot of fun, and i can't wait for it.

well, i would like for things to fit one's taste, but at the same time be new to them. for example it might not be a bad idea to glance over their last.fm to get a feel for things and then create something that you think would be similar to their likes, but that also doesn't appear to be heavily listened to.
