yeah when you only like 5 things it must be disappointed when someone involved in one of them makes something that sucks as well

though i guess given the ratio, it can hardly be a surprise can it

I like Inception and Interstellar and awful lot, flaws and all.

Jessica Chastain should be in more movies, btw.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 4/5

I really liked it, tons of cool action scenes. The second act drags a bit, but overall it's solid.

Gonna see EX Machina tonight. Huge fan of Alex Garland, can't wait to see what he can do as a director.

What sucked more too is the same guy did In Bruges and i like that film a lot.
what if the movie about the movie writer is pretty self loathing a la adaptation

i dont like obvious mary sues (eg seth mcfarlane in a million ways to die in the west, silent bob) but tyrion lannister is pretty rad even so

Ex Machina

One of the most unsettling film experiences I have had in ages...in a good way. Seriously, the level of creepy in this movie is astonishing and hard to put into words. Such a fun game of cat-and-mouse, who's-playing-whom. Absolutely fantastic. Terrific performances (Alicia Vikander as Ava in particular is damn near perfect), subtle but effective effects, a few genuine LOL moments, and a nerve wracking sense of tension that slowly builds to a fever pitch. A few shortcomings, mainly in the last five minutes (Domnhal Gleeson's character does something particularly foolish at the very end that doesn't make much sense), and it seemed to me like some of the nudity in the movie was unnecessary...but damn. Thought provoking, well made, and fun. Go see it. Now.

Pulse (Kairo)

enjoyed it a lot, less horrorish than I expected, and the second half not even scary,
gradually changes into some sort of visual ode to loneliness.

only thing that sucks are the subtitles, no way the dialogues are
that hilarious in the original.

I've only watched maybe fifteen movies this year. Not really into them atm.

Last one I watched was last night, actually: Kill List. I'd give it a 3/5.

Spoorloos - The Vanishing: 8/10

brilliant actor, never seen him before

thought I'd just watch a bit before going to bed and finish some other time, but that was impossible. great film - would pirate again.

thanks a lot for this recommendation, brutechinaski!

Avengers: Age of Ultron

A bit too overloaded with new characters, a bit too hyperactive, but almost never unentertaining. I am glad that the MCU is at least starting to address the issue of the heroes causing more problems than they solve. Not a fan of the fact that, though I enjoyed the movie, in the end it basically felt like little more than a massive set-up for future MCU movies. Nothing you haven't seen before (jokes that mostly work, action, nice effects, blah blah blah), but it's well made and worth watching. At least they've done away with the end credits scene (for now).

I'm actually more excited for next year's Captain America movie than I was for this new Avengers.

Getting ready for a Mad Mad: Fury Road sneak peek for free. Execs from the studio are here, and there is a Q & A afterwards. Hopefully the movie is good.

I watched A Belfast story because I like Colm Meaney, but this one was a stinker.

Also.. Age of Adaline... it was worth a watch, but the narration in it seemed out of place. It made it feel like an episode of twilight zone with Rod Serling talking.
