it can be, but sometimes isn't, it really depends. i haven't listened to any new billy corgan material for about a decade, so you are probably right that this is the lazy version i'd have no idea.

but from writing and performing i find that after writing a song, it's not just the eventual final key that matters but also the chord shapes / finger placement.

so you might find a way to play a song in standard tuning with no capo in the key you want, but the chords and finger placement changes the feel and sound too much. using a capo fixes that.

like how the original version of tonight tonight in C sounds different, but not just because of the key but also the different chord shapes. if you want to keep those chord shapes but change the key, you need to use a completely different tuning or use a capo.

I hear you for sure. It's just literally every song. He used to use interesting chords (sometimes). Now he can just slap a capo and do everything in first position. These are very strum-y songs so you're prob right that it just sounds better.

Those men were my fathers. They have since passed from too much buttplugging.

Now I am sad.

I thought this album was gonna be called "666" and it was gonna be shoegaze death metal?

hard pass on Billy Corgan "Americana".. I'll stick with Sufjan Stevens

Dude, is it ever. Logic has no reason in the text layout of that cover, which is kind of a shame - because it's damn distracting and prevents me from being able to assess whether that cover is cool or not.

Gosh imagine a soft elderly bill cooing at u thru piles of glittery guitarsnakes

Like do a breathless shambolic loose shoegaze thing

Yet instead what we get to hear is big willie corgan 1) strum and 2) sing dry loud honking gasping croaking vocals, forever, again?

The artwork is at least better than the Ogilala cover. Strange that he just has a random photo though, rather than getting Linda Strawberry or someone to do something more intricate. Maybe that's just for Pumpkins. It has a sort of Adore vibe, by virtue of being a blurry b/w pic.

As for the length, 1 hour is too long for a regular vinyl. It'll be 2LPs and online, don't think there's a CD option.

The artwork has been garbage lately. SD and MCIS were peak art - cool nostalgic old family photo vibe on SD, then MCIS has the beautiful Victorian painting collage

this one is shitty unsymmetrical black and white blah

This would be the "WPC" version of SD if it came out now:

Do people still buy many CDs? I can't remember the last one I got. Most of the time I listen on my phone so it's downloads all the way. Or, I buy the record if I really want it.

i bought CDs up until earlier this year when the player in my car went out. it's good for touring bands & whatnot but if there's a super-special release or something i'm prob just gonna go vinyl or some other such "fancy pants" format
