The song sounds much better on Leno than in the studio. The drumming has more punch, the guitars are more lush, and Billy should really let others do backup singing instead of the choir of Billys. If I had heard the song in that version first I would be merely unimpressed instead of fucking furious.

Billy's obelisk is tiny.

That performance kicked arse. One more piece of evidence that Corgan's weakness is not his songwriting and playing, but rather his production. It should be clear by now that if it were not for Butch Vig combined with JC's monster drumming, SP would have just been another obscure indie band...

Seriously, Billy should hire the audio engineer from Leno to produce the rest of the album. No body bothers reading the credits of albums these days, nor cares who mixed or produced the album... Billy should leave the mixing and production who knows how do his songs justice.

On a side note, Mike is a monster drummer. Much closer to Jimmy and classic Pumpkins than Matt Walker or Kenny.

I agree it's much better live. The "Accept the grace" interlude actually kinda works with just the distorted guitar behind it. And Jeff's guitar work (particularly towards the end) helped a good bit too.

The "choir" was not good though.

I think the choir was hilarious! I get the feeling it was a tongue in cheek way of making the band look cool comparatively... Not all that easy with a 61 year old bassist, 20 year old drummer, pregnant organist, and tall bald middle aged front-man with a larynx of a teenage girl! (Jeff definitely brings a great stage presence these days - looks very comfortable in the band now)

Probably the first video appearance in a long time where Billy is one of the 'normal' persons to look at!
