been hitting up the internet for kills' acoustic radio sessions. found some great cover songs in the mix too (frank sinatra, VU, marilyn monroe, patsy cline).

I like WU LYF it sounds kind of like U2 if you traded Bono for a very drunk Dickey Barrett.

SLEATER-KINNEY - One Beat: Corrin's vocals are some of the strongest she's ever laid down and Carrie's guitar licks are profoundly bizzare. Good album, Step Aside and Oh! being particular highlights but not nearly as good as others in their catalog.

The Suburbs is achingly good, fuck all y'all. The lack of bombast (at least compared to the previous two records) reveals the true character of Win's songwriting.

10 songs it's a classic, possibly better than Funeral. At 16 tracks, it's bloated. I'm with you man, some of those songs are every bit as good as anything they've ever done but there's a very long, rather repetitive midsection of that album that i couldn't quite get over.

I would also say the statement is tired, but it's really well done with a very nice mix of longing and hopefulness mixed in with the rote observations about conformity and materialism. I do kind of feel like I'm waiting in line for a number I don't understand.

That is the key to the difference in how we perceive music. There will always be a visceral, unquestioned connection with certain notes, riffs, words, vibes for anyone, but the general approach is different, and that is why you think it's bloated, and I think it's a cornucopia.

seeing arcade fire perform in my hometown in the middle of the street between the diner where i grew up eating eating cheeseburgers and the coffee shop was a pretty surreal experience. being four feet away from win with no photog pit, or security or anything was really something.

today i listened to the soft machine - third. and i can't remember what else.
