why do people say zeitgeist sounds like sabbath???
alot of reviews say that zeitgeist sounds like sabbath...
but that is not true... what song sounds like sabbath? maybe some guitar parts on united states ... but not the hole song...not he harmonics, not the drumming... all the other songs dont sound even close to sabbath |

It's the same sort of criminal overgeneralization that gets every band that uses feedback compared to My Bloody Valentine.

US is such a boring Sabbath rip off. Seriously if you don't hear Sabbath all over that song you need to have your ears checked.

I have seen them live twice so far since the reincarnation, and both times I am fairly sure I heard the riff from Sabbath's Hole in the Sky worked into HMM. |

Actually Black Sabbath had a keyboard player for at least 10 years. And its not like Zeitgeist is very keyboard/electronic oriented

OMFG!!!! This is so true: Zeitgeist = B. Sabbath
Holy shit for what I found!!!! After I see this thread I went to hear some Sabbath songs (I knew Sabbath name of course but didnt really associate one music to them, I knew they was something btw Iron Maiden, Moterhead and those kinda of stuff) and for my suprise definitly Sabbath is the sound more similar to Zeitgeist I heard, the comum points btw them are, for example: - the guitar riffs (oh that old rock style) - the distortion (standard rock distortion) - the solos (the solos are the same shit, that rock style but with very few weird sounds-- weird sounds=old pumpkins-- in the middle) - the drums (linear rock drums) - the Sabbath voice (well actually the fucking annoying Billy's voice on Zeitgeist made me think: "Billy wanted to copy the strident Ozzy voice") Well when I hear Zeitgeist I though they sound was so Queen influenced but no Zeitgeist is much more Sabbath influenced... (maybe Scorpions too lol). The difference is B. Sabbath are themselves while Smashing Pumpkins are not B. Sabbath... so wtf are you b0lly doing?!? |

Every band that uses distorted, low-end guitar riffs in minor keys gets compared to Sabbath. Hell, I've even seen Nine Inch Nails compared to them, and he only uses guitars half of the time.
