Just had a listen through (thanks for the link cardiac) and I'm liking what I'm hearing very much. Definitely on my shopping list after payday.

yea i do this and i feel a little bad about it sometimes. it's so pointless in a way. but i had drumming lessons for 8 years so that might colour my perception of rhythm a bit

Agreed. That's just letting Tool fans ruin things again.

They also analyse and appreciate music differently than most. Instead of accepting that they like the sound or the feel of what they've identified, they relate it back to the weak symbolism of the song. And they hype it up like it's some transcendental thing and HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT IT'S SO TRANSCENDENTAL FUCK I'M HIGH

How could you let those fuckheads ruin something like this?

I bought Wolf's Law and the Big Roar today.

I think my favorite tracks are either Tendons or The Leopard and the Lung. I'm getting the same feeling listening to this as I got when I first heard Siamese Dream. That same level of excitement.

Can we talk about how motherfucking amazing The Greatest Light is the Greatest Shade is for a second?

I think I've recently realized it is one of my favorite songs ever.

The vocal melody at the end there (this childish heart won't wait, etc.). O_O

I've listened to that part literally dozens of times in the last 24 hours. It is everything that is right about anabashedly big rock songs. JUST GET IT, RITZY. FUCKING GET IT. Don't apologize for that shit.

Ugh. I want to marry all three of them.

this hasn't happened with titus andronicus, my love for them only grows

I'm really digging it.

My favorites on that album are Greatest Light, Cradle, Austere, and A Heavy Abacus if I'm in the right mood. And I guess Everchanging Spectrum and Whirring because of course.

I haven't cooled on them at all. It's unapologetic bombastic 90s alt rock and it was basically made for me personally.

The Battle of the Gentle Bands skit on Portlandia really resonated because I kind of feel like that's what they're up against these days.

I agree 100%

Nothing on the new album compares with this moment

Well that's not really a fair standard because not many albums period have a moment like that.

I think at this point I'll say I prefer Big Roar. But I was a little worried they wouldn't be able to measure up to that at all, and they have. I'm satisfied. And I really think there are some moments that come close. The Leopard and the Lung and The Hurdle both have that sort of surging energy that blows me away in TGLITGS. But ultimately yeah you're right, they don't match it.

I think that's the pinnacle of their "fuck this noodly bullshit I WANNA MAKE SOME MOTHERFUCKING NOISE GODDAMN IT" thing that I find so appealing.

What do you think of all the piano and keys and strings that are on Wolf's Law?

you should also look into pains of being pure at heart if you haven't already

it's like if the cure and SP had a shoegaze baby

Got no problem with it because they still bring the noise plenty. i love the intro to this ladder is ours and the piano in leopard and the lung is great. they're standing on a cliff overlooking muse territory but they're not jumping so it's still ok.

I like the EP version a little better than the big roar one. little smoother and more natural. the other seems forced by comparison which can happen when you've already nailed a recording but can't be transferred over for whatever reason.

and they're best rock song is Greyhounds on the Slips, but that isn't even on their EP. It's just a single I believe unattached really.

and I like what little i've heard of the new album so far. though i'm still not all that hot on the stuff they rolled out initially. more impressed with the last song of the new album at this point.

seriously

i was avoiding listening to this album part out of dread and partly out of sheer laziness/forgetfulness

and it's pretty okay. it sounds like they are moving into Museplay territory which is no real surprise from a major label band from the UK.

Ritzy's vocals are better, The Big Roar she kind of had the same delivery for everything. I liked the acoustic track so she can show off her chops. the alternating vocals between ritzy and the bassman on that one track was pretty coll though i has to say

overall really i didn't get HOOKED by any track as hard as Whirring, GLITGS and etc.

It's too polished for what it is. Very disappointed there was no 5 minute noise jam and also the fact that there is a secret track is so lame ass. i thought people finally took the secret track behind the shed.

maw maw song would have been better without actually singing MAW MAW i mean i know that's probably how you came up with the riff but ugh w/e
