Default The new =W=eezer album Pacific Daydream

Anyone check this out yet?

I've only heard a few of the songs that were released early and it sounds pretty fucking lame... Which is a disappointment because their last 2 albums were pretty solid.

I'm downloading it now though, gonna give it a listen.

I would've given this album the benefit of the doubt based on the strength of the last two, but I've already heard half of it on YouTube before the release and I can tell they're Back To The Shit again. Mexican Fender was kinda neat, but whatever. I'm fine with this band having only four good/great albums (Blue/Pinkerton/EWBAITE/White).

So that new Converge album is pretty sweet huh. I dig "Trigger" so much it's like Converge doing Jesus Lizard.

Yeah I'm a little taken aback. I felt like they were on the right track again and then they go right back with their most desperate attempt yet at scoring some hit songs. Back to The Shack wasn't one of my favorite songs on the last couple albums, but it was meant as a statement and now they're back with their most dancey album yet.

Gahhh... Hard to know why Rivers even bothers. Guys gotta have enough money.

I guess the sad truth was that in a lot of ways the first 2 records were just his best attempts at capitalizing on what was grunge and cool too... It was just that the songs were so good that nobody cared that it was an obvious ripoff/blend of Pavement and The Pixies with a Beach Boys flare.

Globes, you weren't down with the Red album at all? I had given up on the group after Make Believe and Red sucked me back in, I thought it was a cool effort and dug the style Rivers was going for. Seeing him with that mustache was all kinds of awesome.

The song Dreaming stands up with some of their best. Heart Songs and Pork and Beans are great too.

For anyone curious, I'd say the only song worth checking out is Weekend Woman. It's pretty cool and one of their most Beach Boys flavored songs in quite some time. SLN, you'd like it, a reviewer actually said that it gave off a SMiLE vibe, and he's not completely wrong.

I definitely get the Jesus Lizard vibe too, though. It's just the way he almost raps the chorus and the (political?) "WAS IT WORTH IT???" lyrics that push it toward RATM territory. Which is amusing.

No, Red is actually my least favorite. In the Great Album Purge of '17, I took a good hard look at it and realized there wasn't a single song I'd consider a keeper. Even Make Believe had This Is Such a Pity/Perfect Situation and Raditude had If You're Wondering (...). There's just nothing on Red that stuck with me.

Shit, I'd make time for Hurley again before I go back to that album.
