Agreed on all but Super Castlevania. They both work 100% for the game content, but there is more going on in the SC one and it's more diverse overall (one of the issues here is that they are quite different games and the music for Castlevania is made with a song length, more level orientated. Where as Metroid is free roaming and is more Atmosphere based upon area, open ended). Super Metroid is a better game than Castlevania though for sure, it's still one of the best ever made.

Also, not sure if you guys know about this but there's a FFVII remix project called "Voices of the Lifestream". It's four discs long, done by a bunch of independent musicians.

http://ff7.ocremix.org/

There's also one for Chrono Trigger:
http://chrono.ocremix.org/

They are truly amazing (also free). FAR from being the work of amateurs.
Here's a song from the FF7 one: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bzuvds
It also has rock, jazz, symphonic stuff, techno...

If you like these games I strongly suggest downloading them.

I agree with Super Metroid, Bowser's Theme, Gerudo Valley, and of course Earthbound. that game is perfect in every way.

I couldn't find non-Mario Paint versions of these Mega Man songs, but they're kind of cool in their own way

the neverhood had the best music in any game ever

this was the first time i heard actual recorded songs in a game instead of midi, and even better they were totally bizarre 'blues' songs with weird vocals and acoustic guitar (but also loads of other instruments)

Hah just remembered UN Squadron, cheese but good, love that guitar sound.

Managed to find the haunting tune from the brainwashed castle area on SOM. That one stuck with me but there is so much good stuff from this game. Must play this again soon.

Loved this temple song to, there is a weird melancholiness to it. Conveys that last refuge feeling perfectly.

one of my good friends did the music to this game. he still has the weird chip thing that nintendo gave him to accurately sample the music through their sound processor.
