Frank is just the kindest guy - moving around onstage to give the cameras a better view of JC. that's rare

It's rare to hear Jimmy play straight Jazz. Even the Complex and stuff with Gannin Arnold was more fusion with pretty straight rock patterns. This show is really amazing and highlights what a versatile musician Jimmy is.

It's well established that Jimmy has a jazz background, but I wonder if this is something he's really focused on since leaving the Pumpkins. I feel like his playing has improved quite a bit in the last ~5 years, and this would explain a lot.

It never looks like he's playing a drum part per se, but rather responding to what the other musicians are doing as it's happening. It's so cool to watch

I came across the concert set archives now and I am Epiphany. The show was amazing in person...absolute raw energy and it was the best thing that I had ever seen. I met Frank before and after the show and he was the most genuine person...kind to everyone and very sweet. Jimmy was the exact same way. Very humble, would sign anything, and is absolutely amazing. I have pictures of stuff he signed and me and him together, and one of me and Frank. Jimmy nailed every solo and still has it in him. He's the best drummer I have seen grace the drums. Just...amazing people.

Signed copy of Love Supreme Collective.

Me and Frank.

Me and the man himself.

I am currently in NY and will post more stuff when I get home. It was absolutely fantastic.

so, is that love supreme collective available on CD now?
sounds to me like it's got the coltrane spirit, with a contemporary feel.

Arrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! FUCK. YES. So fucking brutal. They were really peaking as a live act in the Machina era. Notice the little winks and smiles between BC and JC? That's what being an SP fan is about; the non-verbal, telepathic relationship between a raging, feeling guitarist/lyricist and one of the best drummers to ever walk the earth.

i'm also pretty into the Solo HD video on youtube (i have the highest rated comment, heh) that one's interesting to me for the fact that its pretty much all tom work, but there's that one dirty hi hat slurp at 00:15 which i can't scrub out of my mind. its absolutely disgusting in the best possible way.

also, what is jimmy's most underrated drum track overall? in my opinion, it has to be Owed to Darryl, off the Complex album. the main beat is just genius and i've jammed that fucker for hours on my kit.

AN ABSOLUTE FUCKING MONSTER

Oh yeah. He noticed. He knows he was next to unstoppable with Jimmy. Jimmy is incredibly musical, but he is also flawless from a technical perspective. I've seen some studio stuff where Billy is actually coaching him through fills - not teaching him, but I want it like this or that. Jimmy is such a machine that he could do anything Billy requested on-demand, over and over and in perfect time - and Billy knows that.

Mary Star of the Sea is chock full of drum goodness. The song "MSotS" itself is peppered with smashy-smashy, but Jimmy just says fuck it and starts droppin' bombs from here out: http://youtu.be/6cQ66dYE4WY?t=6m20s

Just about every Sp song with Jimmy is a drum clinic, but I felt "Cash Car Star" was just showing off ... in a good way. One of the only guys with enough virtuosity and musicality that he can go apeshit without running over the song. He actually makes them better.

90 minutes interview with JC, in the beginning it's about Pumpkins, MCIS, his musical background etc.
